Poor Bird!
I am saddened today, my friends. A poor, helpless chick is outside in the cold rain as I type. It's helpless.... It can fly short distances and hop, but other than that it does not move! It seems very frightened.
It's not injured in any way from what I can see. It's parents are on top of my house and the chick is in the grass at the base of my house. I don't know what to do! Should I just leave it?

Set up a long plank leading to your roof in about 45 degree angle. If it realizes it can hop on it, and manages to get up, it has saved itself. Just make sure there are no cats around, you might end up killing the whole "family".

Step 1: Tape a cup securley to a long broom stick and dump the chick in it directly over the nest....OR get a ladder and then repeat step 1 so they won't attack you or something.

We do not have a plank long enough. (2 stories) Also, I'd fear if the bird fell of because of the strong winds. I'll leave him out for the night.... I hope he survives it. I'll look for him in the morning, to see if he did infact survive. If he's not there, I'll know he's ok.

Consider making a little house or protective box where his parents can see him and he is sheltered.

Call the local animal control/humane society and ask them what to do. It might have a broken wing or such.
