Default One good turn...

I haven't started a topic for a very long time here, but I felt that I'm in such a good mood from today that I would share it with you.

I work in a department store. Well, 'in' probably isn't the right word because my job is to collect trolleys and help around the outside. I'm not hired by the store, but help them inside when they need it. Well at the end of my shift today I decided to hang around to say goodbye to everyone as today had been very trying with a lot of rude customers. As I was waiting to say goodbye to one girl I happen to be keen on an older couple came to the front and asked for a Garden Centre associate to help with a bird bath. Nobody even lifted a finger for them, so I volunteered. I got the bird bath and had to run back and forth trying to find the price seeing as nobody would help. I finally get the bath into the couples car and the husband handed some money to me. Not much, but enough for a couple of pints. I refused, and he said, "Bull***t, take the money and buy a beer or two. You were the only one to help and you knocked off half an hour ago." I never wanted anything, but it's such a nice feeling to know that helping for the sake of it can be appreciated.

I'd like to hear about other peoples 'good deed' stories. When you go out of your way to help someone without thinking of compensation. Doing it purely because you want to help, and get appreciated for it...

In that case, so is sex. Therefore, pornstars and prostitutes are professional athletes.

Did you invite the girl out to share those pints with you? It's the proper thing to do you know.

About once every two weeks I go to our local gaming arcade and just win about 5000 tickets or so, and pick out the five youngest kids and slip them each about 1000 tickets when their parents aren't looking. All the sudden they look back and their kid is buried under tickets. I never really thought about it that much, it was just something I do because I'm good games. So anyways, about a month or two ago, an orphanage came by while I was there, they showed up about 20 minutes after I did. I went up to the woman that brought them all there and told them what I did and if they stayed for a while I'd give the kids as much as I could. I ended up spending about $100 and winning ~25000 tickets to give to them. After they had left the owner came up and told me how nice it was, and I told him I had been doing it for about a year now and he says I get to play free whenever I go anymore. So that's pretty cool. I only use the tickets for myself about once every 5 trips or so. They have some pretty cool prizes, I must say. I think the best part is that everybody I help never knows I exist. It's kinda cool to me.

That is just about the nicest thing I've heard of in quite some time.

Well, this is going to sound lame after following that, but my cousin wanted to start 40k after I told him about it so I surprised him with an "early birthday present" of a necron battleforce and codex, sat down with him to build and paint the thing... and he's still really, really into 40k. He writes up strategies on scrap paper in between battles, and was motivated enough to start doing chores around the house so he could buy more! He's about 12, but probably smarter than me as well.
