Default Thinking of buying a car.

Im am planning to buy a car to take advantage of my year long visit to Sweden and avoid taxes.

It will be the first car I actually own, but I have driven for 7 years (no accidents, no speed/parking tickets)
I will mainly be using in to drive around in city, driving short distance, and not too much driving in general.
I dont have plans to get any family in immediate future.(so the space for children is not needed to consider)
Id prefer the car to be nice looking, have low fuel consumption, and maybe around 15000-20000 (not set to stone).
Im planning to buy a car max few years old, propably not all new.
With some limitations, I accept diesel engines.

So, any suggestions? Picture/link would be nice addition. Just looking if someone can offer something I haven=t looked into myself.

If you have about 50,000 bucks to spend on one then I whole heartily suggest this.

It's called the plymouth prowler. It's the only car I fantasize about having.

In that case, so is sex. Therefore, pornstars and prostitutes are professional athletes.

Soft tops dont go too well, when half the year it is raining and quarter of the year it is way below zero (degree centigrade). I think hardtop needs to be adde to the requirements list. Also, over 10 liters on a highway will classify this car as fuel hog.

Id prefer to have back seats, incase I have to offer more then one person a lift, but that can be negotiated on if I get a really interesting car.

I love Vauxhalls. The Corsa and Astra are both wonderful to drive, especially if raw power isn't a big demand (as if you need it in a city, you rarely get over 30!)

I had some friends in France who had a Volvo S60. If you can get past the whole Volvo driver stigma then they are well worth a look. Being made in Sweden they should be well within your price range. Said friends had the turbo diesel engine, and on the highway it was very nice, oh and we know it will do 195km/h before the wife of the owner gets too excited. The front seats are very comfortable, but unfortunately there is not much rear leg room, and boot space is limited.

If you go for a Camry go for the top of the line luxo joby, is has a sweet V6. However when In Europe I would imagine a European car would be best.

Don't get a new car, let some other poor sucker suffer the depreciation.

S60 eats (according to their data sheet) around 12,4 liters on 100km in city conditions. While the car seems Ok otherwise, I think the fuel consumption is high.
I was thinking max 10l/100km in city, but then the car needs to have something special for me to buy it.

The Vauxhalls look nice, I'll have to take a closer look at them, and see if I can register one in Finland without too much trouble. Also I have to check if they sell them here...
