He wasted his life and the chance he was given in the end. It's sad he has died, but he basically killed himself. However, if his tragic end convinces just one person not to drink themselves to an early grave, at least he'd become a positive role model in death. Requiescat in pace.

And if he convinces just one chav to drink even more, double kill!

And because it's like a law, just to annoy the english (But not the Irish. They'll also wish to annoy the english and thus jokingly agree), Jim Baxter was a better player*.

*Joke. But seriously, playing keepie-uppie with the ball whilst playing the then world champions and going on to beat them 3-2= awesome.

He had a chance to change his life, and he wasted it. Someone deserving could have had those organs...

I have no sympathy for the man. He was an idiot who drunk himself into a grave, and the only thing I mourn is the NHS money that was wasted trying to help him.

if you dont have anything good or sympathetic to say WG dont say anything at all. george best was much more than "an idiot who drunk himself into a grave" to many people

I think WG had a point, he did bring it on himself.
However that doesn't mean his life was worthless. He just headed too far down the wrong path.
I do have sympathy for him, because no one chooses to drink themself to death unless the alcohol is exerting an influence over them.
He was also a brilliant football player before his problems came along, and it takes a lot to get to the level he did.
