A few guys at my local shop built a 3'x4' space hulk board. The idea is that next weekend we're going to run a game inside the terrain. The rules are pretty simple - a 500 point force (no FOC) enters the board at a set point and engages a 1000 point defender force which is scattered throughout the hulk. The defending forces can be Orks, Daemons, or Tyranids.
So here's my preliminary list: Autarch Lugh - 155 points Counts as Yriel. Dire Avengers - 162 points 10 Dire Avengers - Exarch with Shimmershield/Power Weapon, Defend Rangers - 144 points 6 Rangers - Pathfinders The idea behind this list is pretty simple. Of the three potential Space Hulk enemies - all will most probably focus on close combat oriented. Ideally, the way to counter this would be lots of shooting. However, in the corridor of passages and rooms, shooting won't be able to be a huge factor. So, I'll be swapping my Bladestorm/Dual Catapults Exarch for a Shimmershield/Power Weapon/Defend Exarch. This Exarch should help me against pesky rending and power weapon attacks and give me the ability to reduce the damage from opponents with high attack characteristics. The Autarch is there to add some close combat potency and stability. Being able to dish out 4+ power weapon attacks early in initiative will be huge...especially against monstrous creatures or big Orks. The Rangers are there to pretty much offer some shooting support. Ideally, they will be able to shoot through my units or cover long corridors with sniper fire. |

I was thinking with the pathfinders, the corridors will limit the amount of shooting, plus they are static. Why not try a storm squad with 2 flamers and a warlock with destructor? 3 flamers hits will make people take notice, and can weaken an opponent before an assault...
