Default 1000 point Assault Heavy

Haven't gotten a chance to play in a few months so I'm a bit out of practice but this is my attempt at a 1000 point list, my main opponents are typically Tau and Chaos though I definitely made this list with fighting Tau in mind primarily

HQ
Autarch 130
-Jetbike, Laser Lance, Fusion Gun

Elites
6 Striking Scorpions 133
-Exarch w/Chainsabres, Shadowstrike

6 Harlequins 162
-Kisses, Shadowseer

Troops
8 Dire Avengers 128
-Exarch w/dual cats, Bladestorm

7 Dire Avengers 101
-Exarch w/dual cats

6 Jetbikes 152
-2 Shuriken Cannons

Heavy Support
Falcon 195
2 Shuriken Cannons, Holo Field, Spirit Stones, Vectored Engines

TOTAL- 1001 points

Since I'm usually facing off against a static army, my plan is to run my faster units up one flank (the one my Scorpions have infiltrated on ideally) and get my smaller assault units into combat while the bikes try to tie up the elusive suits with my lord.

I only expect to see one or two vehicles (hopefully only one Hammerhead) so my anti tank is a bit light, I've tuned the Autarch to be able to tank hunt while the Falcon should be able to handle lighter vehicles though I worry this might be too little. Any comments or criticisms are welcome and appreciated.

personally, I see a lot of marching in this army's, and I think if you're facing a static army, you're going to get shot to bits. :'(

I agree with the previous poster and I feel that this army may potentially arrive in separate waves if not played properly, and that would work against you quite harshly as an eldar player. On the flip side, if you slowed them down to keep pace with the rest of your army, then the extra speed capabilities now seem a little pointless.

I'd attempt to rework this a bit in an effort to maintain a more solid collective movement, or an attempt to solidly flank for a "hammer/anvil" tactic if that's what you were going for.

Is this list something you've created with models already purchased/owned? Were you creating a list for critiques prior to purchase?

I haven't much experience versus Tau (thankfully... ) but with my brother playing Chaos, I run into him frequently, lol. I'd say that running a single squad of Dire Avengers with Exarch using Bladestorm and Dual Shuricats would be smarter than two weaker squads. I'd consider mounting it in a Wave Serpent with Shuriken Cannons as well. This helps put out a more focused and faster amount of firepower. The only real slow thing left at this point is your Scorpion squad.

If you were to tighten up the Dire Avengers a bit and go mounted, you may want to consider a Doomseer on Jetbike if and when you expand to 1500 as well.

Do you commonly play certain mission types to where you are always able to Infiltrate? If so, then great they should hopefully be able to keep up somewhat and be useful. If not, then I'd consider dropping them in favor of something faster or with better long range firepower.

I apologize if this post looks cluttered! I wish you the best of luck regardless of what you decide to go with though!

Some revision keeping the above in mind

HQ
Farseer 115
-RoW, Mind War, Jetbike

Elites
6 Harlequins 162
-Kisses, Shadowseer

Troops
10 Dire Avengers 152
-Exarch w/dual cats, Bladestorm

6 Jetbikes 152
-2 Shuricannons

Heavy Support

Falcon 195
-Holofield, Spirit Stones, Vectored Engines, 2 Shuricans

5 Dark Reapers 217
-Exarch w/Missle Launcher, Fast Shot

Total 993

Dropped the Autarch in favor of a Mind War Seer to take advantage of the lower LD of Crisis Suits, dropped the Scorpions as they would be in a bad situation without a transport if they couldn't infiltrate (I feel like they might be a wiser choice in the Falcon than the Harlequins but I can't decide.)

Dark Reapers seem like they'd only be in danger from Submunitions and suits if I placed them smartly and would help me secure a fire lane while I moved my Falcon and Jetbikes up one flank. Ideally I would turbo boost my bikes and Falcon up one side of the map while my reapers helped whittle down units that came into line of sight. The Avengers seem admittedly out of place with all of these units, maybe a guardian team with a heavy would be a better alternative?

Look, I suck at this game, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but here's what I'm thinking. And the only reason I feel comfortable telling you this is because I've made these mistakes myself.

If you want to be assault heavy, the dire avengers are set up for shooting. Maybe give the exarch the shimmershield/sword combo. However, even with that set up, I've found that the dire avengers aren't all that reliable in close combat.

I also think the autarch is a better choice for an HQ, to travel with the DA's. He's supposed to be a CC monster.

You're also spending a lot of points on dark reapers.

What if you cut the DA's to 7 instead of 10, dropped a dark reaper or 2, and put in 5 scorpions? Since you have a falcon it can act as a taxi for both the scorps and harlies, instead of a dedicated transport. Or you can give them shadowstrike, and just camp them out in a corner of the board until they're needed.

Please, feel free to try your own list first, but if you find it ineffective, give these suggestions a try.

I would agree with Nightwing that the Reapers are taking up a lot of points, and aren't the most effective unit against Tau, simply because most infantry targets are incredibly cheap and frail by comparison, and because of JSJ units that will deny you LOS. With the point cost of the Reaper squad, you could easily get 3 Vypers with scatters and shuricannons, which can take on anything in the Tau army and would make your entire army move at the same pace. Alternately, you can get a Serpent for your Avengers, and still have points left over for a harrassing Vyper. Or a few Vibrocannons to deal with the skimmers.

If it were me, I would just change the Reaper squad, because everything else in the list looks spot-on. The bonus is that if you take out the Reapers, you can buy pretty much anything in the Eldar list to replace it, and then some.

Hope this helps a bit!

I agree, you need to keep everything moving against Tau. I would suggest dropping the Dark reapers also, and maybe adding in some "Fast Attack," it's there for a reason. And when fighting Tau, everything is effective.
