Default Starting a Techpriest (former starting-money thread)

Well. I'm planning a Techpriest as my next character for my friends Dark Heresy campaign. But I'm not sure how one start with thrones to begin with, when you are of higher level.
I'll start out on the Mech-Deacon level (6th advance).
So anyone know how much money I'd start with on this level?

...I'm not sure that you can start out at the Mech-Deacon level. I think you have to work your way there from the bottom.

But seriously, a Guardsman, I'm willing to bet, could a) outshoot me, b) give me the beating of my life, and c) shove more squad-based tactics down my throat than I'd ever care to digest. Guard are hard, hard men. Whether or not GW's inconsistent, Marine-worshipping fluff keeps with that, mkay?

Real men fight in tanks!

There are no set "rules" for a character's money or equipment at higher levels.
I'd suggest that your GM look at what missions he plans for you guys to take on and appropriately arm/equip you guys.

My suggestion would be three times the starting amount and then one or two nice items (valued from 500-1000 thrones). That wouldn't be bad for "experienced" members who aren't being paid or getting the chance at riches that Inquisitioner's can get.

I'm basing this off the fact that my newly 6th'd level Scum has around 3700 thrones as well as a Best quality .54 Trantor Hand cannon. Miscellanious equipment for me is a scattering of stuff (stimms, clothing, comm beads, climbing gear, etc.), including some halfway decent armor.

My total "value would be estimated at roughly 4500-5000 if I were to guess.

The caveat for my experience: I'm the absolute most frugal member of my Inquisition team. I have also have lucky rolls when advancing my monthly paycheck.

Thanks for the input guys.
Got a decent idea how much our GM lets us start with now.
Our Noble Vostroyan Guardsmen kicked the bucket and got eaten by a rather large and smelly mutant while we were undercover on a feudal world.
(Sucks sooo bad. I'm a gunner and am reduced to using bow and arrow...)
Oh, well.
My friend rerolled a Cleric and got to start with 2000 thrones. And he's one advancement lower then me. (I got really lucky starter xp )

Gearwise shouldn't be a problem any more. The errata gives me the armorer skill
So now I'm getting a D'laku Hellgun and a Steel Burner laspistol.
With this skill, I shall build in a flamer on the Hellgun. And craft larger
energy-packs for the guns (Perhaps a backpack feed for the Hellgun?)
The rest goes into some nice mechadendrites

Now roughly only the background remains.
I'm sniffing on the cult of Sollex. Perhaps a Secutor who formerly was working with the Imperial guard?

Than again, I need these things to add some more depth to the character:
-An enemy or rival
-A dirty secret
-A goal
-A reputation, deserved or otherwise

Actually the Hellgun uses the backpack source as a standard.
I'd re-think that flamer idea too (unless you get the one-shot upgrade), promethium is annoyingly heavy iirc.

...prometheum isn't any heavier than any other kind of ammunition.
10% of weapons weight. 0,6kg per charge. And it's not like I'll need that many canisters with me.
Still staying with the flamer-idea, for pure awesomeness.

Aye, I see now it comes with a backpack. I'm soo gonna tinker with it ^^

Gearwise, as I see it now:

-D'laku Hellgun+Flamer (10kg+6kg)
-Steel Burner Laspistol (2,5kg)
-Guard Flak Armor (11kg)
-Manipulator Mechadendrite
-Utility Mechadendrite
-Medicae Mechadendrite

And with a carry limit at 36kg-45kg, it should not be much of a problem lugging it all around.

Originally, I would have to do that. But I am already playing a Arbitrator on the same advancement-level. And as you may know, it's very easy to die in this game...
Starting a char from scratch would be too big a disadvantage for the group as a whole.
Instead, the Inquisitor would dig up an acolyte on a similar level.

Hmm, that wasn't as bad as I thought I remembered.

You remind me that I have to have my armor upgraded eventually. I'm fine with my current weight (because of my wonderful physical scores)... But shaving off half the armor's weight will help me out quite a bit. Luckily, though I have a small arsenal, I can store 80% of it in a location where it won't be stolen/messed with.

I usually just have two pistols and 6-10 magazines in between the both of them. A few grenades and I'm generally good. Oh yes, explore an underslung grenade option if you decide to not go with the flamer. I'm pretty sure it's the Auxillary grenade launcher in the Inq. Handbook.

Yeah. I read about it.
Depending on my GM, I'm considering customizing the Hellgun to use
different combi/underslung weapons. Like changing it between missions.
