hey everyone.
I have liked the look of de for quite some time now,and now i finally have the funds to be able to start an army with them. I picked up there codex cheap on eBay about a weak ago and when i was looking though i saw that we have a good amount of meq killers and as alot of my friends play meqs even more reason to collect. However Ive heard a lot of rumors recently wheather they actually hold water or not i cant be sure. But with the most worrying of all if that we may be phased out of 40k all together due to lack of interest. but that is hardly fair what new comer is going to push aside all the beautiful new sculpts and up to date army's for us which is an army with a codex that is nearly as old as some of the youngbloods! So what you guys have to say on the matter is the de future more bleak then the 41st millennium itself? ???

Well, just a while back there were rumors of a new codex and models IIRC, so i don't think there future is that bleak.

When playing with them, its supposed to be pretty much do or die, one wrong move and its all over. Very fragile, but powerful models. Like a glass sword.

I don't think they would be phased out. A major factor in this is if they planned to phase them out sometime soon Dark Eldar probably wouldn't be mentioned and statted in the current rules book. There was also an interview a little while back where he had a small bit talking about the Dark Eldar range he was working on, and said the range should be done in 8 months, which I think this was released in December or November.
Another nice thing I heard is the codex is going to be around as thick as the Space Marine codex.

I doubt the DE would be removed from 40K. Some people are just reactive sheep and when they see something change in their environment they bleat out unreliable information. Like when they removed the DE from the shelves people were going crazy saying that they were doomed and would go the way of the Squats. That is untrue and we have evidence that a codex and models are in progress. So fear not friend and embrace the darkness and torture that await you within the confines of Commorragh.

there's been pics of greens popping up so no fear of them been phased out (they've just popped out for some milk while the IG entertain the company)

God, not those again.

There was one pic, of two green models, that were old Juan Diaz test sculpts and never intended for release. People keep posting that one pic over, and over, and over on forums all over the place saying "NEW DARK ELDAR! LOOK!" and it gets pretty damn annoying...they are not new.

The only real evidence we have of DE sticking around is Jes Goodwin, who told Jervis in a GW podcast that he was halfway done with the plastics for the new DE release. So far though no one has any idea when that release is actually coming, and last I heard someone actually said it was being pushed back yet again.

Not like it matters anyway though, no one will be able to afford the new Dark Eldar anyway. The codex alone will probably cost $50 if it really is the size of the new SM one.

Those green sculpts may be old, but Jes Goodwin has confirmed that he's working on our new model range. We're definitely not getting phased out, it's just a question of when a new frickin' codex is coming.

Worse case scenario you do your Dark Eldar, play with them with friend as Dark Eldar and use them as Eldar in Ttourny...it would give your army personality.

Hows the new army coming along?

I like their fluff, but the helmets just look so silly.

I wish they looked more like the Drow from dnd. I considered starting DE and use bare heads on all the models painted as Drow, but meh.... I may do that if they get some cool new rules and units in the next codex.
