I know a character has carry the portal and place it. After that does it work like deep striking? Do you have to roll for resevers? Can they assault after they come through the portal or only shoot? Can the portal be destroyed once it has been placed? Sorry if these are dumb questions, I'm just trying to learn as much as I can before I start buying my army. Thanks!

No it works like a portable board edge, so you can move shoot and assault after coming on. You cant destroy it. You do have to roll for reserves as normal, but luckily you cant hold back reserves if the portal isnt deployed.

If you don't mind I would like to piggyback onto this tread with another WWP question.

1.) If the portal for some reason does not get deployed (say the portal holder was killed before setting it up). Can your reserves still come on from your original starting edge or are they lost?

2.) Army Builder wont allow me to let a Haemonculi have a WWP if they are using a Skyboard or Jetbike. I'm assuming these are just to small of transports to carry such a heavy device, is that correct?

3.) The last question is where is the best place to post a 2500 WWP list to get critiques from the other DE players out here. In the general posts or is there a better place?

Thanks for letting me jump in, WWP is what I am trying to start up, I'm a Speed Freek Ork by nature so your world is strange and confusing to me but I'm jumping in with both feet.

It actually gives you the answer in the codex. Any models planning to enter battle through the Webway Portal may only enter through the Webway Portal. Meaning, if your Webway Portal carrier gets killed before he deploys the Webway Portal, all the models caught inside it cannot deploy.

Characters on Hellion Skyboards or Reaver Jetbikes are not allowed to take Webway Portals. There is no given fluff reason for this, though I don't think it's because it's too heavy (the Dark Eldar are too advanced for heavy things!), though you could always make this the explanation for it in a fluff article that you write.

Exactly. I also like to think of it as a portable 1st move/first shot/assault. It gives the unit in the portal the chance to get first move/shot/assault so you dont lose your paper mache raider with cardboard foot boards to losing first turn.

And to compound what ToastMaster already said to Dam's questions:

1. They are lost

2. I used to think it was that the web way portal needs two hands to deploy it however you would think your hands would be free on a skyboard. Also, I have heard that in the French language version the Dark Eldar Codex says that skyboards can't come through the portal (not deploy it) so our French Dark Eldar players are actually allowed to deploy portals from skyboards - go figure. : But most english speaking players (with english codex's) interprets "may not use the portal" as they can't deploy it but can go through it.

3. This would be the better place as most people dont know Dark Eldar and may give you "un-informed" advice. In other words, we will know the rules better than most in other parts of the forum (or definitely have more people to give you the latest tactics and strategies).

Only if it is a general thing like a rulebook rule would it go in general 40k.
