Default Question about Saim Hann biker extra movement

I am playing against a Saim Hann army. What is the rule that allows his bikes to jump around outside of the movement phase? I will be able to look at the codex and ask him on monday, but I'm dying to know how this works.

Also, in the army list in my 3rd ed rulebook, it says that foot troops must be mounted in a Saim Hann army. Is this archaic, or still true?

Eldar jetbikes are allowed to move 6 inches in the assault phase in any direction regardless of whether they are within 6 inches of the enemy or not. They do not have to charge an enemy even if they are within 6 inches of an enemy model.

Well the standard troop choice for a aim-Hann army are guardian jetbikes - but that is because the army organisation has changed. Instead of a necessary HQ and 2 necessary troops a Saim-Hann army has to use 2 compulsory units of fast attack and one compulsory HQ. There is no specific rule stating that all infantry units in a standard army must be mounted - he can use normal guardians - but he will need a certain amount of fast attack units - which could all be swooping hawks!

Wasn't it that Jetbikes and Vypers, (I think) count as troop choices in Saim-hann and then lots of other stuff counts as elites?

Guardian jetbikes and shining spears can do it - nothing else. Not vypers, falcons, fire prisms or wave serpents.

Thanks again! Still there are a lot of jetbikes in a Saim Hann army, and shining spears, as I'm sure you know.

As a Tau player, it's quite funny to get Jump-shoot-jump used against me. It's very powerful against us, as target denial hurts Tau, especially static. Mech might overwork your bright lances a little, but it should still be effective.

My first battle against him was fun, though a bit of a headache. I look forward to future ones - if only because it's nice to play an army that isn't teeming with 3+ saves!

Well...guardian jetbikes are 3+ save units but I know what you mean

You could try using Missile Pods...if they can still fire around corners that is?

Swooping hawks are elites in SH Sadm, I wanted a hawk theme army. So instead I just convereted all my jetbikes to have swooping hawk wings on the sides instead of the normal vanes on jetbikes.
