Default Footslogging Eldar in 5th Edition

Is there any viable way for Eldar to be run in 5th edition without the use of heavy mechanized lists/jetbikes?

Discuss. :3

FYI, I've run almost completely footslogging units since November, with only a single Walker, Falcon, and two Vypers with armor values in my entire possession. I want to know what other people think about the concept.

As a matter of fact, Fritz over at Way of Saim Hann does it quite well. Not only does he play Saim Hann, but he plays a tricky Harlaquin army. He runs with this:

-2 Fortune/Guide Seers on foot
-3 Wraithlord
-10 Rangers (or paths's im not sure) (x2)
-3 Full squads of Harlequins

I'm sure there are a few other options, mostly including pathfinders/dire avengers as troops, tons of Warwalkers, reapers and wraithlords. Also wraith walls still work quite well sir .

Cheers!

You generaly need units that are tough (wraithguard) and an avatar. ELdar don't have the strength of stubborn/fearless, so he makes a huge difference. I'd also support with 2 wraithlords and 3 warwalkers. Use the big squad of qwraithguard as the tip of the spear (fortune and conceal works well) along with guardians with conceal and scatter lasers. harlequins add to this, and scorpions/warp spiders add some quick elements too.

its still pretty experimental for me, but i do have a foot sloggin list i'm working on.
2 farseers guide/fortune each
2 10man wraithguard /w spiritseers (farseers hang out here)
2 10 man pathfinder squads
2 wraithlords (hang our with the wraithguard)
2 vypers
3 warwalkers
around 2250, is what tournaments are here.

I only have a wave serpent and 2 war walkers in my eldar army, everything else footslogs, and so far ive been undefeated with them. ;D

I played Eldar a little while, however, I played a jetbike army. I lately tried out footslogging, with only a falcon as a vehicle. I prefer it this way, but with only one game against a double lash army, I don't think it's much of a reference...

However, a good friend of mine uses the following list @ 1500 points:

- 2 farseers, doom & guide
- 2x 10 avengers, bladestorm, pw and shimmer shield
- 6 banshees, executioner, serpent
- 5 dark reapers, template gun, fast shot
- 6 fire dragons
- falcon
- 5 pathfinders

This is fairly footsloging, with only two vehicles, and so far he's got a pretty solid win ration (5 in 5 vs my BA, and then he wins 2 games out of three against others). I honsetly beleive its very doable, but that its a little triker to play.

In brief, yes

I think as with all our lists (well all races really, but Eldar are punished more than most others if they don't think this way) we first need to choose the core strategy. In this case footslogging, and then choose complementary units accordingly.

Any wraithwall centric list is (or should be!) mainly foot based.

Likewise (although I don't consider this a "foot slog" list) static fire base lists built around reapers and / or pathfinders can do just fine if used tactically well.

To put this simply - If I invest say 900 points in a slow or static group of units. The remainder of my points need to ensure that I get the most value out of those minis. Generally, this means staying nearby - which you don't need speed to accomplish - sooooo mechanising your army just isn't generally efficient for this strategy.

I know this goes against the idea for an entire foot slogging list, but I believe the one thing that has given me my success with my eldar is my one dragon wagon. That one dragon wagon, along with all the rest of my eldar running down field, which includes banshees, lets my walkers use their insane amounts of firepower while receiving virtually no opposing fire because my enemy is too focused on whats harmlessly running at them instead of whats wiping out nearly all their long-range fire support.

So, what I'm basically saying is this: one serpent or falcon holding dragons, banshees or the like along with the rest of your footslogging army will allow a perfect distraction for large groups of war walkers to rain down fire on your enemy, pretty much eliminating their one weakness, creating a very effective footslogging army(that is why I'm planning on getting 4 more walkers for even more support along with some wraithguard and more avengers for more slogging goodness ;D ).

My Eldar is a footslogging army, as was the first one I had before that.

They basically revolved around a solid wall of Guardians backed up by Conceal Warlocks and the Aspect Warriors behind them acting as counter-attacking elements.

Seems like a good army, ever have any consistent problems with it? Also, whats with the wraithlord having 2 DCCW and what support weapons do the guardians have, or is army not of the most recent codex rules? ???
