Default Eye of Wrath fluff

Hello everyone! I have a fluff curiosity question about Yriel's Eye of Wrath. As written, it's an eyepiece that shoots lightning. Now an Eldar buddy of mine told me that he uses this eyepiece as a laser targeter, looking straight up he signals to a ship far above the battlefield. The Eldar battlecruiser, with a lock on Yriel, precedes to flak the d'yi out of the ground around him.

Personally, I think the second explanation is pretty freaking sweet, but there's nothing about it in the codex. Thoughts?

One relatively big question there.

If he is essentially getting a target lock on himself (the template being around him), how does 1) the shot always place itself so accurately and 2) not get himself pummeled into the ground at every game?

I mean it's a cool idea, but there is a bit of an issue there.

Yes, it does have its flaws. But how is lightning from an eyepiece suppose to hit things perfectly in the back of him and have double the strength of Eldritch storm? Not to mention AP 3...

The codex says what it is, doesn't it? I have never heard anything more about it than that.

Lightning does not move in a straight line. It would naturally arc around, especially if Yriel placed the Spear of Twilight strategically to act as a conductor. I dunno about why it's so powerful, but it's totally feasible, scientifically, to see lightning in a circle when you're surrounded by metal guns and armor.

A wizard An Eldar did it.

Yeah, I guess the codex reigns supreme.

Eldar craft aren't really equipped for planetary bombardments and as such the second explaination doesn't really hold much water. Not to mention that he would have to tell his opponent to wait while the orbiting craft got into position.
