after that, if you still have any questions then we'll do our best to answer them -.^x

a combat patrol is just a 500 point or so list right?

note: this thread was on the first page; search is your friend ^^

Yep, it is 500 points.

For troops - I recommend you get guardians. Guardians when used properly are great units and are much better value for points than Dire Avengers. Rangers are too inflexible for 500 points battles. I would recommend two squads of guardian defenders (strom squads are mostly useless now) with warlock with conceal. That is essential for their survival. If you liked you could also get them heavy weapons platforms for extra firepower and perhaps anti tank capabilities but this could be a little expensive for a 500 point battle.

I really recommend you get a Farseer as well. He's a great HQ/psychic unit and if used well he can really enhace an army. Don't give him too many upgrades too as he isn't exceptionally difficult to kill and if you spend too much on him you could easily waste the points. I'd recommend a single psychic power (guide for the guardians would probably be best) and a singing spear/witchblade for cc.

As for other choices, it depends whether you want to specialise into a specific craftworld. For a simple 500 point battle I think that vanilla is best as I think some craftworlds (such as Alaitoc and Ulthwe) really do need more points for them to be properly effective. I'd definitely recommend taking a look at the craftworlds topic on one of the links in the link which Sin gave you.

But for now - a good solid wraithlord with its great firepower, brilliant toughness and its monstrous abilities in cc is a great reliable choice. However that's just my opinion and you might see something else in the codex you like. Do you have the codex?

sorry tau killer, alot of what you said cant be used in combat patrol, the restrictions on the Wlord for example, to many wounds. and combat patrol is 400 not 500. but thanks alot for helping me out, i appreciate it.

Can't it? Sorry, I haven't got the rule book with me (mainly because it's been borrowed for about three months :P)

Anyway good luck, no problem and I hope you find the other topics useful.

When I have got a hold of my rulebook I'll try to answer usefully!

Until then I'll sit here like a spare wheel. 8)
