Default Independent Characters

Can you attach more than one IC to a unit? Example, a farseer and an autarch to a warlock unit?

You can attach as many as you like.

Yes, you most certaintly can as long as you're not joining a pheonix lord to an aspect warrior squad that's not of their aspect, also avatars can't join units

sweet! ;D I was just figuring 6 power weapon attacks from an Autarch attached to a seer council would give them some serious oomph! (Fortune, Doom, etc, etc)

Good idea. Some combinations that I came up with were:
I know none of these are particularly points effective.

1. 2 Autarchs joining Warp Spider squad.
2. An Autarch and Eldrad joining a Seer Council.
3. Autarch with Reaper Launcher and Maugan Ra joining Dark Reaper squad.
4. Other combinations of Autarch (Tooled up fittingly) + Phoenix Lord + Disciples.
5. Autarch + Farseer joining either Guardian Jetbikes or Shining Spears.
6. Asurmen + Autarch joining Guardians/Dire Avengers.
7. 2 Autarchs + Warlock joining Wraithguard.
8. Jain Zar + Autarch + Harlequins.

Are there any in there that you think are any good?

Jain Zar and a Farseer with fortune works good on Harlequins too.

Maugan and a Fortune Farseer works good for a full reaper squad because you won't have to move them as much, Maugan can protect them from assault, and they can sit in a wide open fire lane without worrying about return fire as much because they are fearless and rerolling saves.

I like an Autarch (mandis and power weapon) and a Doom Farseer combo with some Bladestorming, Defend-having, Shimmershielded Dire Avengers in a wave serpent. That's a lot of dakka dakka dakka followed by a charge where the unit has some punch from the Autarch's weapon, exarch's weapon, and the witchblade - while still having the defensive bonuses of the Shimmershield, Fortune, and Defend power.

Personally I don't like independant characters unless they are dedicated to a specific squad, and as such, tailored to augment the ability of that squad. We have to have one, so my usual choice is a simple Doomseer or Fortuneseer hooked up to whatever my biggest wad of infantry is. Our IC's are too fragile, so they need to be with a squad. Even our Phoenix Lords go down easy under small arms fire.

The "Plan" (Using the term loosely) Is to put an Autarch + Farseer (w/ Doom & Fortune) + Warlocks all on Jetbikes. Very points heavy, but i'm hoping they'll easily win those points back. Hoping. :P

yeah but warlocks cost a buttload of points and kind of suck against MEQ. All those wounds don't count for much when he is rolling 3+ saves. Warlock jetbikes are way too expensive in $ for me to consider. shining spears count as power weapons, not as tough, but definitely a viable and slightly points cheaper alternative if you face Marines (which at least around here, are about half the gamers armies)

One that we were discussing a few months back was the transported warlock squad with a farseer/mindwar and a powersword/mandi autarch... he drops out with them, they all destructor the mess out of stuff, mindwar to pop the head off of the hidden powerfist guy, and follow up with a charge. I have only used this once and it was unstoppable against my bud's large squad number Ultramarines. It is an (almost) definite ensured killer, but hey so is 80 points worth of Dragons in a transport. The difference is that the Dragons wont last long after their initial strike, where the warlock squad probably will.

I couldn't agree more, a was playing Planetstrike the other day, and Maugan Ra rolled for mishap, so my opponent put himin the far corner, where he got sniped to pieces. I wasn't amused.
They should all have a 4+ invulnerable basic and Asurmen having a 3+.

Veering wildly back on topic:
I like the idea of having Warlocks with Guardians, using Conceal and/or Enhance, as this can make them more survivable by giving them a cover save, or by making them not too shabby in assault.

Even with Enhance they are still pretty shabby in assault, kind of inefficient points use IMO.

I think Enhance was intended for the guy with the Singing Spear, in a squad of other Warlocks who all have Destructor and Witchblades, maybe joined with a Farseer. That or given to the guy who runs with the Wraithguard squad, who actally have the S and T to last long enough to take advantage of it.

Enhance just gives you a slight oomph in WS and I, neither of which will help Guardians much since their S and T are still so low to hold up in a brawl.

I think Guardians are definitely better with Conceal or Embolden, and I am leaning toward Embolden because of the ease of getting a cover save anyway in 5th ed. just by screening the squad.
