Default New to Eldar!

Hey guys, Starting this tuesday i am starting Eldar. I currently play crons and always wanted to get into Eldar. I was wondering if I could get the pros and cons of Eldar as long with some help putting my first list together. Thanks

If you have a look through all of the wraithsight articles then you'll get some useful advice.
What stile of play do you like and how much would you be willing to invest in your Space Elves?

The important thing to remember with Eldar is that:

1) It is a specialist army. Each unit are good at certain role but not other.
2) it's fairly expensive for the unit
3) their shooting range is not so great, but basic weapon is an assault weapon IIRC.
4) plenty of choice for HQ and Psyker power.
5) Awesome skimmer
6) Relatively steep learning curve IMO.

I have no limit, I have 2k crons and i am looking for the same for Eldar. But of ocuse i will always expand but it would be nice to be able to drop more then one army when i go to the bunker. And as for style of play. Well i am accustomed to shooting, but I have alwasy been a fan of hard hitting CC. I would ask for a sample 500 point list but thats for another thread

Hard Hitting CC.

I would go with an Autarch, some Banshee and/or Scorpion, some Avanger (2 squads) and maybe some viper and a Wraithlord.

Eldar have 3 Close Combat specialists. Striking Scorpians, Howling Banshees, and Harlequins.

Scorpions are strong and tough. Their specialty is hordes. They are great at fighting Boys and gaunts. Along with anything else lightly armored.

Banshees always strike first in combat and carry power weapons. They are basically can openers to be used on power armor and terminator armor.

I like both banshees and scorpions. As for Harlequins.....I find them kinda lame. :-\

Eldar armies are expensive. Its why I haven't started mine alongside my tau.

Harlequin were great in 4th edition. not so much in 5th. The rending rule hurts them.

Ugh....I just made a 2000 word post but my session timed out.

I have a test tommorow so I can't retype it up now. But basic gist: harlequins are still good in 5th ed. even better in some regards, they just have to be used differently. And Shining Spears are also good and....

....I can't even go on this is too depressing. I'll make the post in two day's time I guess.
