Default half-eldar?

I am curious, are there half-eldar people in the 40k universe? (I mean half human/half eldar.)

There is no mention of them of which I am aware. The suggestion is that Eldar physiology differs from humans enough that Half-Eldar are not possible.

Considering that before we even get into the biological issues, there's the racial and political ones too. Namely, they'll BOTH want to kill a freakish half-breed and anyone involved in creating one!

Also, first man to even mention a certain meme will be summarily executed.

I don't know about that I feel like fluff wise it's possible. I mean let's be honest here Eldar are pretty much space elves? Eh it's entirely possible.. not sure why it isn't represented anywhere in fluff.

I'm pretty sure that I've read it's impossible. They are genetically very different.

Sure, that Ultramarine half-eldar librarian :P

We have had this discussion many times before though, and have found fluff stating that Eldar have a crytaline bone structure, pointing to enough of a physical difference for it to be impossible.

And what meme, Del?

a 'meme' is a mix of philosophy and way of life.

Eh.. What it really comes down to is this is all made up as it is. If games workshop decided to publish a section of half eldar in the next Eldar Codex all the sudden it would be possible. Know what I mean? So I guess the only thing anyone can say for certain is it hasn't been done yet.

That being said, one of the questions I remember from Gamesday at the authors thing was about half elves, half dwarves, half orcs, and half gobbos in fantasy. According to McNeil, no author will ever write about it, as the design team was split about 60:40 and it caused massive arguments.

I see it as one of those possible things that you do not want to touch.
