Default Psychic tests and Embolden

So I played a game today at my local hobby store. I went to doom a squad of Marines with my Farseer only to roll an 11. I re-rolled it and got the power off. My opponet immedietly questioned why I re-rolled. I showed him the Embolden rule saying that you may re-roll any failed Leadership tests. However he insisted that a leadership test was not a psykic test. Neither of us had our rulebooks and so I gave up. Is he wrong, are psykic tests and leaderships test the same or not?

Yes, psychic tests are a form of leadership test. Anything that allows you to re-roll leadership also lets you reroll psychic, morale, pinning, and regrouping tests, and the Eldar FAQ clarifies that Embolden does in fact work on psychic tests.

Actually last time I checked a psychic test and also pinning checks were completely different to a leadership test. Sometimes it in certain special rules it says you can re-roll pinning and leadership tests.

actually the BRB states very clearly, "to use a psychic power successfully, the psyker must pass a psychic test, which is a normal leadership test."

so it is the same thing, and it is therefore affected by embolden. (even if it werent the same, the Eldar FAQ clarifies that embolden affects psychic tests as mentioned by Deris

The last Q and A shows that you would be able to re roll the test as long as the Farseer was in the unit with an Embolden Warlock.

Yeah I think the confusion has arisen because (in the past at least) morale checks were seen as seperate from leadership tests. But Psychic tests fall under the category of Leasership tests I think.

At the risk of going off topic:

Does this interpretation mean that, due to Mob Rule, Ork Weirdboyz auto pass psyker tests if they're in a squad of other Orks bigger than 12?

On topic: that's cool, now I can have a use for seer councils other than carving stuff up .

They don't auto pass, because Ld can only go to a maximum of 10. An 11 or 12 wills till fail.

Embolden allows you to re-roll Ld tests (Any test when rolling 2D6 attempting to get under the value). A morale check is a type of Ld test, as are pinning checks and psychic tests.
