Ick, they didn't give a specific answer to how Tau Smart Missiles work with VoT. The search light ruling is similar, but not completely applicable.

I find it odd that they ruled in favor of rubber banding hawks, but that never especially concerned me.

I find the mounted Wraithguard taking wraithsight checks and being auto-killed if they fail and then the vehicle is destroyed rather amusing. The mental image of them waking up suddenly and discovering that the world is on fire and exploding around them rather amusing.

Not that this is "official", but SMS require you to declare a target, and therefore would be subject to VoT. LoS and requiring/not requiring it isn't the issue- it's the ability to declare a target as what governs VoT.

Hope that helps!

Well, um...wow. That's interesting. Star Engines are good to go now...but Intercept is nerfed. I like how they just add text that was "forgotten". :

I officially concede and apologize to Redbeard over the Skyleap debate from last year. I'll be putting a Skyleap squad in my army now.

The Spiders' surprise assault is much more appealing now with the assault jump clarification. Jump Autarchs also seem to be speedy little buggers when it comes to a charge.

Mind war cover saves? Didnt see that one coming.

Is it just me, or isn't it sort of dumb to release a 4th ed FAQ just a few months before 5th edition? : - I mean those that refer to the general concepts of the game are obviously ok, but some of the rulings may change to be completely reversed, or is that just me being pessimistic?

Whose to say these rulings aren't inline with the new edition's rules?

Like you said, it would seem silly to release a new FAQ for every army for 4th edition, with 5th edition releasing on the same day as over half the FAQ's...

Well, in the immortal words of Wargammer (to be released in the next newsletter) "if this is a 5th Edition Codex, it should be out after 5th Edition, not before it."

I don't think intercept is any more nerfed than before. Swooping Hawks have pretty decent WS, they won't ever need like a 5+ to hit or something.

In any case it doesn't affect me much because I find walkers are generally weak enough to be taken out by heavy weapons. I only use hawks for AV 12 skimmers and monoliths and such.
