Pretend this - you have a Biel-tan army which has in it every single aspect in it (in ten man squads) as well as one 5 man wraithguard squad with warlock.
You have one wave serpent.
Which squad do you transport?

The Fire Dragons.

The best anti-tank Aspect Warriors, if not the only Aspect Warriors who stand any chance at all against vehicles. One you've taken out enemy vehicles with these guys, your other AW's should have little trouble in dealing with the rest of their army.

Ok... so how what do you think should be transported in this situation.

First I'll give you a bit of information on the situation.
When i'm playing my tau friend he always deploys his firewarriors in a 'back' position to provide covering fire, he deploys a full squad of broadsides near them, he also has 2 hammerheads (with railguns) and a whole bunch of crisis suits deployed with them. He usually infiltrates kroot and deep strikes stealth suites and some more crisis suites.

The problem I face is that I have 3 squads that tend to be lost. My seer council, Dire avengers and a squad of stirking scorpians. I recentely bought myself a nice juicy wave serpant but I don't know what to transport. The scorps could just infiltrate but then if i transport the dire avengers the seer council is un-supported and vise versa. I also use a falcon which could mean the scorps could infiltrate and the dire avengers and seer council could both be transported. BUT that's bringing both of my large vehicles closer to my enemies railguns and rocket pod things.

Got any thoughts?

I'd recommend the transportation of the seer council - as they can do more damage when reach the enemy lines. the striking scorpions can just infiltrate and the Dire Avengers...will just have to hope! I think it'll be of more practical use to transport the seer council.

Actually I just thought. If I do that ,then the dire avengers can stay back and help hold the flank when those nasty deep striking suits come raining down.

Was gonna suggest keeping the Dires back to counter any deep striking units, and push the other options forward...

Council needs to be where it is most effective...up close and personal with those Witchblades/Singing spears...

If you prefer those Dires for supporting your front line troops, then maybe drop some Banshees back to deal with Deep Strikers...they can handle Crisis suits pretty well on their own.

Also, consider dropping some Hawks behind his lines...usually Hawks get gakked doing this, but against Tau, they can be a little more effective. *

Also, you have some JsJ troops of your own in the Spiders...harass his troops and keep them busy while you flank him with Dragons and the Serpent...

There are some very good ideas there.

Anyone else got any good ideas/strategies/thoughts/opinions.

I prefer to transport fire dragons rather than for example, howling banshees, because they can do some damage immediately after they get out - by firing, instead of having to wait a whole phase (or wait a whole extra turn near to the enemy in the vehicle without being able to do anything...

You can also transport the Wraithguard with a warlock. They can fire as soon as they get out and can deal a lot of damage to tanks aswell. You can also give the warlock a singing spear to pack even more punch!
