Default On order of Rezzy, An Eldar heavy tank destroyer!

Hiya, Rezzy has asked me ta put this here

Eldar Hydra
ARMOUR: F:12/S:12/10

type: Tank, speed- see special rules

weapons: a Single Hull-Mounted, Forward Firing Pulsar, Twin Linked Shuriken Cannons.

Pulsar: (note these are not the official rules for the pulsar)
Range: 72"/ Strength: 10/ AP: 2/ Heavy 1

The Hydra has an advanced defence field around its prow to protect its frontal armour during combat, It is similar to that found on the wave serpent but is desinged to take on more poweful weaponary, an shots towards the front arc of the vehicle always have a maximum strength of 8 and no weapon rolls more than 1 dice for armour penetration.

Options:
The twin-linked Shuriken Cannons can be upgraded to:
Twin Linked Multi-Laser at+5pts
Twin Linked Starcannon at+15pts
Twin Liked Bright Lance at+15pts
Twin Linked Missile Launcher at+20pts

The Hydra may take any vehicle options other than the holo field and Cyrstal Targetting matrix from the eldar armoury

Special Rules:
Huge: the Hydra is a very time consuming machine to build and keep running, Eldar craftworlds never have more than 2-3 of them, In game terms they count as 0-1.

Pulsar: The pulsar is a dedicated anti-tank weapon, it rolls with an ap of 4 against infantry.

Speed: the hydra may never move more than 6"per turn, If it does move the pulsar may not fire as the tank has to use its mechanical bracing system to be able to withstand the forces from firing the gun. The heavy weapons are unaffected

The Hydra has a BS of 4 thanks to its advanced targetting systems.

Points: 230pts

In that case, so is sex. Therefore, pornstars and prostitutes are professional athletes.

Hmmm, I think it needs changing a bit (mainly to keep in simpler).
How's this:

The Eldar Hydra

Armour: Front:12 Side:12 Rear:10 BS: 4
Type: Tank
Speed: See special rules

Weapons: Single hull-mounted forward firing Pulsar, Twin Linked Shuriken Catapults. Turret mounted Shuriken cannon.

AT Pulsar: (Note these are not the official rules for the standard Pulsar, this is a specific anti-tank variant.)
Range: 72"
Strength: 10
AP: 2
Type: Heavy 1

The Hydra has an advanced field across it's prow to protect its frontal armour during combat.
This field operates in the same way as the field utilised by Wave serpents.

Options:
The twin-linked Shuriken Catapults may be upgraded to a Shuriken cannon at +25 pts.
The Shuriken cannon may be upgraded to any one of the following:
Scatter Laser at +5pts
Starcannon at +25pts
Bright Lance at +15pts
Eldar Missile Launcher at +20pts

The Hydra may take any vehicle upgrades from the Eldar armoury, with the exception of the Holo-field and Cyrstal Targetting Matrix.

Special Rules:
Rare:
The Hydra is very consuming to build, and requires an extensive upkeep to keep operational.
Eldar Craftworlds rarely employ their use, and never have more than a handful of them.
In game terms they count as 0-1.

AT Pulsar:
The Pulsar is a dedicated anti-tank weapon, it rolls with an ap of 4 against Infantry.

Huge:
The Hydra may never move more than 12" per turn.
If it does move the pulsar may not fire. The heavy weapons are unaffected by this rule.

The Hydra has a BS of 4 thanks to its advanced targetting systems.

Points: 215pts

What do you think? I think this is slightly more balanced, and more in keeping with the Eldar.

perhaps makign the pulsar ap1 to make it a true tank killer, as with the rest of its upgrades this seems to be wise...nice tank though!

Hmm, a possibility. Although that could make it a bit too powerful?

Hmm...I think keeping it as ap2 will be fine although ap 1 would be nice.

Is the hydra a skimmer?

yep, Its a skimmer, nice revision rezzy, I like the Idea of a turret on the top, I dont think ap1 would be good without a price hike in pts, perhaps 205pts would be more appropriATE

well if this is going to be a true tank killer, and from what you have wirrten about it it sounds especially desinged for tank killing...therefore AP1 would be more realistic if it has been made for this purpose! Saying that, obviously it would never be made (!)but i think that main weapon would be AP1 if it were.
