Default The Avatar's armour save

The Avatar's save and points cost are things which I have a strong opinion about. however I'll hold my vote until other people vote (I wouldn't want to unduly influence anybody with my opinion!)

I think it is fine as it is as it equals the Daemonic Aura Sv and the Avatar is a daemon.

Although as an Avatar of war it should really have some armour and it appears to have som eon the model so a 4+ or 3+ normal save would help, perhaps at +10pts for the 4+ and +20 for the 3+.

Considering that the Avatar is a reincarnation of a god I definitely think that it should have some better armour.* A 3+ for 20 points extra would be very good.

A normal save is one possibility. But seeing as it is a daemon its invunerable save could just be upgraded to a 4+ like three of the other greater daemons...even though the avatar would still cost a lot less than them it would make the fact that he is a re0incarnation of a God show a little more!

Definitely a normal 4+ save would make a world of difference. But then again you have to think of it this way. Eldar have always been known for their frailness. Which adds the sense that you have to think more carefully about the moves you make and what you do with your Avatar. Not everything in the game has a good save afterall.

The other thing; is that a 5+ invulnerable save Isn't completely useless. Besides the Avatar's 10 WS means that it is hard for most enemies to hit him in CC. Resulting in no need for a good save. The fact that he is a demon also adds the thought that maybe his physical presence isn't what it seems. Therefore he may not actually be using Armour to defend against blows.

Just a few thoughts.

BloodThirsters, fellow avatars of war (albiet from a different god) use normal armour, therefore i'd give him the 3+ save for 20pts as it cuold be said he is simply wearing a large suit of Exarch armour (as it would make sense that he wears the best armour available to Eldars warriors).

I don't think the invulnerable save should increase as the Avatar simply isnt as powerful as the avatars of the chaos gods for the simple fact that the chaos gods are for more powerful than Khaine.

A 4+ invulnerable would be nice but to be fair as Arguleon-veq said, it would be unrealistic.

However the 3+ save for +20 points so far seems to be the favoured idea.

I agree, I'd up the points cost and the save, but leave the Invun. how it is.

Taking the model at face value here it does not really have anything in the way of armour, that is to say jsut like the Keeper of Secrets, great unclean one and the lord of change have just the same amount of protection. This is a daemonic thing, as Freedman says no-one really knows the substance that these dameons are made of and how they take damage.

Therefore as a normal save cant be considered (that would be 4+ or better anyway) its either a 5+ invunerable or a 4+ invunerable. Making the avatar (a re-incarnation of a God) more akin to a greater daemon or to a chaos fury or slaaneshi daemonette?

I know which i think makes more sense

In that case, so is sex. Therefore, pornstars and prostitutes are professional athletes.
