Default Alaitoc Rangers

Calling all Eldar players (especially Alaitoc players.)

How many pathfinders and rangers do you use in a 2000 point battle? Also how big are the ranger/pathfinder squads that you use?
At the moment I have 18 ranger models, five of which I'm using as pathfinders. How many more rangers do you think I need?

18 would be plenty for me. I use 9 rangers in 3 man squads and 5 pathfinders when I play alaitoc. I would use more, but I don't have the points. I would always use them in 3 man squads as 1) I think its more fluffy 2) If something is going to assault them I only lose a 3 man squad rather than a 5 man and 3) it costs less points and gets you the same amount of disruption rolls.

I'd've thought that that would be more cheesy than fluffy?

sure the alitoch rangers would operate in perhaps smaller units than others to stay better hidden and more stealthy etc. but i think minimizing them is a tad cheesy, depends what your opponent think! i play someone who does this and it annoys me but i suppose a put up with it without making too much of a fuss, well thats because hes stopping this now anyway! Think about 5 man squads though as being a small but still sensible number?

I'll bear that in mind.

well that was directed mainly at Commander Ace, looking at your 2000pt alitoch list there is only one 3 man ranger team so i can live with that!

lol, i bet you are ;D

but back on topic i think if you want to loose one of those wraithlords instead you could boost up one ranger team and add in another 5 man team or even (if you are prepared to lose some other components) a 5 man pathfinder team in place of an elite slot?

it all depends on how you want your firepower too look, in the form of starcannons on your wriathlords or vypers? or ranger and pathfinder sniper rifles?
