Ok. everyone always talks/debates about the six Phoenix Lords but does anyone actually use any of the Eldar special characters noted in the topic title? (Yes I know Eldrad's dead but...)

Well just because hes dead it doesnt change the fact that hes in the codex, and you can use him still. My own experience is that no special character will ever be worth all of his points, ever!!

Theyre up to add some flavour in the game, and to run story based campaigns...!

Finally...I was beginning to think that no-one would ever answer...

You're right in that they add flavour to the game but you're also right in the they're not worth all of their points! Good old Eldrad costs nearly the same as a landraider - give me a landraider anyday (if I played Marines/Chaos of course!)

Exceptions could be to make huge 4000 pts battles between the guard and the orks, and then lead the forces with Ghazghkull and Yarrick... The blood!!!
That would be fun!

True. But the ability to re-position units sounds mighty good.

none of them are worth the points, bar Nuhadu, he is stellar for 75pts , 10pts more than a starcannon vyper and you get all those special rules ^-^

How could you say Iyanna isn't woth her points? She would be one of the only reasons to play Iyandon. She has 2 wounds with almost a 2+ inv. save . Has 2 of the IMO best warlock powers and has a longer range singing spear. She complements the Wraithguard's tank hunting skills and she has a shooting weapon for everything. Anti-high toughness/tank, anti-swarm (pistol), and anti other troops- destructor. 2 wounds with practically 2+ inv. save come on! Could you imagine that with fortune!

Hmm yes.* Iyanna is very surviable (if you look at the probalities she actually does have the equivalent of a 2+ invulnerable save.)* Howevr her incredibly poor toughness means that she can easily come under attack from massed infantry fire and her armour can't keep out every shot...

She isn't much good at killing either.* Shuriken pistol is bog standard short ranged ok weapon.* Destructor is also good but very short ranged.* the spear is although good for taking out tanks still very short ranged.* Despite its special wound roll it isn't much good at killing infantry.* I've worked out that the chances of killing anything with a 6+ save with are less than 50% - about 46%.* Against something like a normal space marine trooper, the chances of killing it are only 18.5% - and bear in mind this weapon can only be used once per turn.* In short it's mostly wasted - unless you get lucky and get it in range of a vehicle.

Enhance is ok but considering her terrible strength, toughness and number of attacks it's wasted on her.

In short Iyanna is a nice character, she's not bad but she simply isn't worth her points cost.* A spiritseer or even a humble warlock are much more cost-effective units.

not to mention she must lead a wrathguard squad, her awsome save will only work once she is on her own, meaning she is about to die anyway. As has been said special char are not worth their points, they are there for fun, yet you still need permission to take them, theres this guy at my store that never lets me use ole' Maugan. Other than that I wish there was a special char just for Biel-Tan, and one for altaioc as well, srry I'm getting off topic.
