Having Harlequins in an Eldar list is easy enough, what we'd like to consider though, is what else you'd like to see in this list, and what you expect it to be able to do. A little more info, please? - Yriel

Yes more info would be welcome. But as it stands, try making a list with all Elite slots full of Harlequin. I would suggest either Jetbikes or Rangers as troops. The first because they are fast and can assist (if ever necessary) the Harlequin, meaning giving some fire support where needed. The later because they are also Outcasts among the Eldar. The Harlequins aren't exactly what normal Eldar are and neither are Rangers. Also Rangers give you some long range sniping capability. But try to decide for yourself what other units you like and maybe we can help you some more... Greetz |

Well I definatley go all kisses and fusion and team up just guardians to fill slots. Possibly some swooping hawks for some deepstrike/jumppack anti vehicle and light armored troop. I also use a Doomseer on jetbike to doom the about to die squad. But if you have a farseer on jetbike with spear you may just want skip hawks and get some spiders. They are great for tying up squads and killing rear armor.
Or you could go Falcons w/6 man squads, but I'm not sure what kind of points you are talking about so it's hard to say. Oh and I just finished my Troupe-Master, it's available on the Showcase Forum.

I actually play a Harlequin themed army. I themed my army on the idea of the Harlequins more as a traveling circus in order to recruit members from the craftworlds, and each part of the army has a seperate job in the Masques which they perform, which in turn aids them in their combat abilities.
For example, think of the dark reapers as pyrotechnicians or swooping hawks as acrobatic specialists, while the warp spiders are like magicians appearing and disappearing. If you want to stick with a harlequin themed army I actually strongly recommend that you dont just try to take 3 full squads, as many will look down on this and they can be quite expensive (both points wise and cost wise). What I actually did is required myself to include one squad of harlequins in all of my lists that I made, and created lists that emphasize different aspects of eldar combat or masques for that matter. I have a speedy and fast striking list using two mounted squads of dire avengers, shining spears with an autarch, warp spiders/swooping hawks and two fire prisms. On the other hand I have another list that is two squads of wraithguard accompanied by two wraithlords and Eldrad Ulthran and some support weapons (vibrocannons = massive speakers!). Then I have a list that has little mix of both. Really all that matters is that you're able to justify it, and maybe even model your guys so they look more harlequin-like. For example, I've decided that I'm going to make greenstuff harlequin masks which I will attach over the faceplates of all of my aspect warriors to make even the most normal looking aspect look like a harlequin. As far as game dynamics... you really need to play around with the different harlequin setups and find the one that works best for you. I personally use a 10-man squad with a shadowseer and all with kisses, but that's what works for me and my lists. I find that harlequins are good in combination with slower units that can soak up enemy fire (wraithguard) as it distracts the enemy from the harlequins which are fragile to shooting (if they can be seen). My best list is the following: HQ Eldrad Ulthran Elites 10 Harlequins w/kisses and Shadowseer Troops 10 Wraithguard + Spiritseer Troops 10 Dire Avengers w/ Exarch - twin cats and bladestorm - Mounted in Wave Serpent Fast Attack 8 Warp Spiders w/ Exarch - twin spinners Heavy Fire Prism - holofields and spirit stones Heavy Fire Prism - holofields and spirit stones I think that comes out to around 1500 points... sorry I don't have my codex on me. |

another effective list is 3 units of 6 harlequins with shadowseer and kisses all mounted in falcons with starcannons, vectored engines, holo fields and spirit stones. those are then backed up by 3 units of storm guardians (with flamers, no warlocks) in wave serpents with bright lances. makes for one super combat army.
i have faced a list like that and i must say, thank god for mech, and the dice gods lol, as i scraped a solid victory out of the bag, but the basics of the list are on solid foundations, you will need to develop tactics and a general strategy for the list, as you play the list more and more it will become an evil list for sure. one thing i would change in the above list was the weapon set of the storm guardians, i'd give them fusion guns and a warlock with enhance, it will make them alot more combative, I5 and WS4 makes the difference. i am currently considering a list like this myself as it had to potential to be so good. -Rob |
