Default 1000 points list- writer's block!

Hi folks,

I've got another tournament in a month or so, and am considering using an Eldar army this time around.

Standard 1k tourney, with BGB randomized standard missions. Terrain ranges from 25-50% of game boards, which are 4x4 tables. Army comp scores are based on the general army purity test. Painting and sportsmanship are also scored- so I can't be throwing my dice down the streets!

Opponents are likely to include: Hybrid Tau, Foot Orks, Assaulty Blood Angels, Battle-sister heavy witch hunters (with Callidus Assassin), and two bolter/heavy bolter-trap armies- Ultramarines and Black Legion Chaos marines.

My initial thought is a balanced Iyanden theme:

HQ

Farseer 85pts
Fortune

Elites

7 Harlequins 184pts
Shadowseer, 7x H.Kiss

Troops

10 Wraithguard 396pts
SpiritSeer, Conceal

6 Dire Avengers 89pts
Exarch, Extra Shuricat

3 Jetbikes 76pts
Shuriken Cannon

Heavy Support

Falcon 165pts
Shuriken Cannon, Holofield, Spirit Stones

Total =995pts

This gives me wraithguard wall for mission scoring, plus a drop n' pop avenger unit, and jetbike transport foil. It's also packing a fairly nasty Harlequin counter. That said- I'm not entirely sold on the list. I'm tempted to drop the wraith wall in favor of a larger mounted Avenger unit, and swapping out the fortuneseer for a Doomseer to accompany a larger 8 man Harlie unit. It would look like this:

HQ

Farseer 80pts
Doom

Elites

8 Harlequins 206pts
Shadowseer, 7x H.Kiss

Troops

8 Dire Avengers 253pts
Exarch, Extra Shuricat
In Wave Serpent, Twin-Linked Shuricannon, Extra Shuricannon, Spirit Stones, Vectored Engines

6 Dire Avengers 89pts
Exarch, Extra Shuricat

3 Jetbikes 76pts
Shuriken Cannon

Fast Attack

5 Warp Spiders 127pts
Exarch, Extra Deathspinner

Heavy Support

Falcon 165pts
Shuriken Cannon, Holofield, Spirit Stones

Total =996pts

Speedy mech list packing S6 where it counts and operating with zero frontline. Two skimmers are fairly sturdy, with the Serpent sporting vectored engines to account for lack of a holofield. The Doomseer can run with the Harlies while still being able to set up shuriken traps. I admit I love the sheer speed and firepower of the list, but I seem to be lacking a reliability unit.

Which list do you like?

Well, I only find two things that I think you should add/change

#1 you're army's have almost no anti-tank and that could be a problem with the Hybrid Tau and sisters of battle. I would suggest giving the falcon an EML or brightlance.

#2 Dire avengers will get eaten by a Bolter/heavy bolter-trap MEQ army's so you might want to rethink them slightly. But they do have a transport, but it is the only tanks in your army's so they will get all of your opponents ant-tank.

Why not give your farseer the singing spear? it could cut through tanks, and you have a few spare points in both lists... why not use them all?

Also, I know I'm new and inexperienced, and yet to win a real battle... but I like the second list. Speed is good!

Against armor totalling up to 13, a Pulse Laser will outperform a Brightlance and a Missile Launcher. The Pulse/SCannon combo gives the falcon even better credibility at AR12 and below, and the best part is you can still fire both weapons on the move- making s6 your ideal weapon of choice on the Falcon.

AR13: Brightlance 0.25, Missile Launcher 0.165, Pulse Laser 0.33

AR 12: Brightlance 0.25, EML 0.25, Pulse Laser 0.5

It's simply a far better configuration- and Tau and Sisters aren't sporting anything better than AR13.

Good, then you should use a pulse laser.*

Pulse laser is standard gear on a Falcon. Yriel almost has me switching my Falcon to Pulse/Star/Shuriken Cannon configuration...almost. If it wasn't for the fact that it's already painted, I probably would. Those 7 shots are pretty fierce.

Pish-ta - we all miss Eldar rules every now and then...except Falstead, but he's just weird.

Yriel - my vote is list #2. Because I like fast Eldar. But, seeing that you're all Iyandan - go with list #1.

As a note - isn't Spiritseer on the Warlock redundant? Because he's attached to the unit he has to stay within 2" of the Wraithguard. I trust that the Farseer will stay with them too for Fotune, correct?

Spiritseer is a requirement if you're using Wriathguard as a troops choice- as is 10 wraithguard.
