Default Finishing Off My Enemy's Pride

What is a good strategy for an Ulthwe army to use against a Space Marine army? List as below:

1 Chaplain
30 Tactical Troops
5 Assault marines
5 Devastator Troopers (with 3 Rocket Launchers)
2 Land Speeders
1 Attack Bike
7 Terminators; 2 with Flamers 1 with Lightning Claws

[Edit] I re-wrote your post to make it a bit easier to read. [/Edit]

How many points?

And how do they have the flamer-lighting claw combo? The sarge has the claws?

Well first off, you need a Seer council. They don't have a librarian, so all your powers will have free reign. I suggest 1 farseer with Fortune and one with guide, the offensive powers are not much use against marines as they have too much armour for Eldritch storm and are to numerous for Mind war to make much difference. I tend to use my Seer council in a supporting role, with only one attack each, these old gentlemen are not at their best in combat.

He doesn't have any transports or tanks with heavy armour, so we don't need any birghtlances, you are thus fully justified in taking several starcannons on vypers.
Possibly a unit of Firedragons in a wave serpent to deal with the terminators? As the Terminators can deep strike, hold back the Serpent until you are ready to use the fire dragons.

Now, you will also need a couple of units of guardians. Black guardians with BS 4 don't benefit too much from eithre fortune or guide, they are accurate enough already, and three are very few things in a spacmarine army that will allow your 5+ save anyway. So a couple of large units, with warlock with conceal, moving through cover to hose down the tactical marines or act as bait for the Assault marines.

A couple of smaller standard guardian squads equipped with Starcannons or missile launchers would also be a good idea, keep these guys close to the Seer council for all the guide you can eat.

Last but not least, a pair of vypers with stacannons and cyrstal targetting matrices will do amazing things to the squaddies. Like shred them!

So thats:
Seer council, 2 extra warlocks, given to Black Guardian squads.
Fire dragons with Wave serpent
2 large squads of black guardian defenders, no platforms, just catapaults (honest, these are often underestimated)
2 small squads of Guradian defenders with starcannons.
2 Vypers with stacannons

And then possibly a falcon with starcannon for heavy support.

Bear in mind that this army is really only for Marines, it will not do well against Tyranids or Orks due to it's specialisation in AP 2 weaponry.

Hmmm, I think Mind War could be a good choice actually.
It will allow you to pick off any heavy weapons hidden amongst his troops and you could even make short work of his Chaplain with it if you could get close enough.

I disagree with Hunter on the subject of cc-orientated Councils, they can be very nasty (2 Farseers on the charge with Witch Blades is 6 attacks that wound on a 2+), especially if one of the warlocks has Enhance. However, a Seer Council designed for combat can get very expensive.

I agree with Hunter on one point...Eldritch storm would be a waste of time. I'll post more when I have the time.

I agree with Restayvien. Mind war can be very handy. CC orientated Seer Councils are extremely nasty but unfortunately very expensive. If you choose to give lots of points to your seer Council you will have to make sure that you use it in the best possible tactical way. It is unbelievably easy to give lots of upgrades to Farseers and Warlocks and then either simply waste them on the battlefield or even (I'm ashamed to say) forget in the heat of battle that you have them. Too many times in battle I've kicked myself when I've forgotten to use fortune on my wraithguard.

As Hunter said, starcannons are vital when facing a power armour army. Take as many as you can and definitely give them as support weapons to your guardians. Also give warlocks with conceal to each guardian squad. Fire Dragons too are excellent anti-Marine squads but be careful. They're very vulnerable to enemy fire. A Transport for them sounds good, but that depends on whether you have the points. If you have, give it a Spirit Stone and upgrade the cannons to starcannons. I would also recommend getting a five man squad of Dark Reapers for heavy support. Stick these guys right at the back and laugh like a drain as they wreak death on the Marines. Finally...

[move]Eldritch Storm against Marines is a waste of time.[/move]

3x squads of 20 gaurdians each totting a starcannonand a warlock with conceal.(they can move and shoot)

Avatar(terminators will b handeled by this geay so very easily)

2x farseers each with mindwar then have a 2nd power of fortune and 1 with guide.
3x warlocks. 2 with spell range power(forgot name) and 1 with something of your choice.

5x darkreapers.

Falcon if you can afford it and put the reapers inside get them into a good positon and fire away.

Use the gaurdian squads fleet 1st turn then hold the land speeders will come 1st trying to flamer or hb u.
Full starcannon barage on the land speeders this will take them down 75% of the time.

Mind war a few enemy heavywep troopers and the terminator sgt.

If you can do it sacrafice you falcon to get his devastators. Fly up full speed unload the reapers then watch the falcon blow up then full reaper fire on the dev's try go use guide on them to so death is garanteed. Also fortune these guys so if they are in enemy troop fire they will survive.

DO NOT WAIT FOR THE ENEMY TO COME TO YOU.
GET INTO FIRING POSITION RIGHT AWAY WITH THE REAPERS AND FARSSERS.

Hmm...interesting, but I'm afraid I don't like it. The Falcon is too points costly to risk sacrificing like that. The Reapers have a large weapon range - they don't need transporting to get in a good position. Save the transport for something like fire dragons who have a short range. Since you can't disembark until the second turn AND heavy weapons can't fire the turn they're disembarked the Reapers won't be able to fire until the third turn (and they risk being blown up on the previous turn when they've disembarked.) Keep them on the ground and allow them to kill Marines from the very first turn.

and fruthermore, you wouldnt wnat to unload right in the middle of the enmies face with a falcon, far too expensive although resilient. Instead a WS is cheaper, better armoured (especially against melta guns ;D) and can lay down a nice supporting barrage of fire for its crew be they black gaurdians, fire dragons, shees or anything else you wish to get up close and personal with the enemy ;D
