I'd suggest reading a 4th ed rule book. You can always attack a dreadnought with grenades in combat, however they require a 6 to hit. The Intercept rule overrides this allowing you to hit any vehicles on a 4+ all the time.

Quite deadly.

Lets be clear here. This is another ANNOYING and extremely cheesy list that will win alot of missions ... no one will want to play against the all Hawk list and rightfully so. It is also quite boring to play.

I've seen these lists dependent on points . . .

- Use two or three full squads of hawks outfitted with sunrifle, skyleap and intercept and your exarch. Between the grenade packs and haywires not much they cannot deal with

- Bahrroth ( argyuably the best of the phoenix lords) who will take out tanks

- An autarch with wings opf course

- Now all youn need to do is fill up ther troop choices with two minimum squads of DA with shuristorm well hidden and ready to pop out when needed.

Now SM might give this list a bit of a problem but as long as you have 12" clearance to drop the Hawks in they are untouchable ... Orks, nids, guard, eldar and tau are really in trouble against this nasty list. Let's be honest.

What missions do you fear? Seek and destroy, recon, take and hold and cleanse are all fairly easy to win. Secure and control is your only real problem scenario. All you have to do is repeatedly target an area and then clear it w/ assault if you must when almost nothing remains. Taking objectives ... repeatedly dropping grenade packs and then assault it with what ... 80 some odd shots to finish off the remains on your last turn.

No doubt the tactic works ... but what fun is there playing this list?

This is true. It would be a really annoying army to play against, and pretty hard to beat, unless if the hawk player goes first.

But besides that, I would like to see Hawk armies that don't rely on skyleap. From what I can tell, at the very least, the only weakness of Hawks really, are MCs. If you take maybe a pair of doom-seers with mind war, and some dragons or something, they'll be very versitile, and don't rely on some cheezy power that everyone'll hate.
