I am thinking of starting my own craftworld. I am wondering if anyone here has done the same? I will be doing a full fluff writeup with the concept and reasons why. So if anyone has their own craftworld please share.

Autarch_Kalesh,
Coincidently someone else just asked me about Craftworld Paragon's Fluff, and I still have the writeup on my desktop. This is the short version: I appreciate your interest, but rather than babble on like a 12-year-old Dungeons and Dragons player telling you about his 12th level fighter, I'll try to keep it to the bare bones. Craftworld Paragon was one of the many that rode out the psychic shockwave of the fall, only to find itself being reeled in by the Gravity Well of the newly formed Eye of Terror. (Much like poor Altansar) Thanks to the leadership of Karrandaras the Shadow Hunter and numerous sacrifices by it's people, Paragon was able to fight it's way free of the Eye's grip, and make for open space. (Unforunately this process took centuries; this is also how Paragon came to be in Karandras' debt) This long battle against the horrors of the Great Enemy galvanized the poeple of Paragon into a warrior culture not dissimilar to that of Biel-Tan. Like Biel-Tan, Paragon has both a Seer Council and a Court of the Young King, unlike Biel-Tan the line between Seer and Warrior is blurred, and the saftey of those citizens not on the path of the warrior is paramount. Paragon's Seer coucil is made up of "Battle-Seers" whe dedicate themselves to striding along-side the Aspect Warriors and augmenting their might. (Thus my long tradition of having Farseers accompany aspect warrior squads.) This Warrior-Seer class call themselves the "Wind Serpents". They traditionally ride with the aspects on a Wave Serpent or take to the air on "The Wings of Wrath"; (a winged, armored construct that emulates a jetbike), carrying Twin Shuriken Carbines. (Emulates Jetbike armament, and Pistol for CC purposes rules-wise) Seeing as the Seer-Council and the Court have differing philisophical views on the nature of warfare, the office of Warlock Lord was created to act as a Liason between the two, and act as an overall non-political force commander. The Warlock Lord essentially replaces the Autarch in Paragon's military structure. The most recent leader of the Wind Serpents, and my namesake, is Gedrakke Nailo. Before walking the witch path, Ged had strode the path of the artisan, the path of the Father, (Child-Care is a whole path in itself I think! ) and the Swooping hawk, Striking Scorpion, Fire Dragon, and Dire Avenger aspects of Khaine. After a short time walking the Witch path under the tutalage of the Current Warlock Lord (Sariss Solarr) he temporarily assumed that post when Sariss was greviously wounded in battle. During a great battle against the forces of the Emperor's Childern, Ged's Wings of Wrath were damaged, farcing him to the ground among a snarling horde of daemonettes. Such was his fury that it attracted the attention of the Avatar of Khaine, who granted him new wings of flesh, blood, and fury; infused with the War God's might, his Witchblade gained the ability to hurl great arcs of lightning at his foes. (Represents the same upgrades as an Eldar Jetbike rules wise, and I also use either Eldrich Storm or Mind War for this Character) A certain measure of the War God's ancient wisdom came with these gifts, and he soon became leader of Paragon's Wind Serpents. (I figure if the Chaos Gods can grant gifts, so can Kaela Mensha Khaine... ) Paragon's current intersts include a loose alliance with a Tau Expeditionary Force, constant Skirmishing with the Slanneshi forces of (my Wife's) House Bellemuerte, and the scouring of any alien presence from the Eldar Maiden Worlds. (Again llike the forces of the Swordwind, the people of Paragon see the Maiden Worlds as the future). Thanks for your interest, Ged

I was thinking about creating fluff for my new Eldar, the difference being that it would be an Exodite army.
During his travels of the threads of fate, Farseer Marchias of Ulthwe viewed the paths of many different craftworlds, exodite worlds, and maiden worlds. While viewing the threads of the exodite world known as Anaris, named for Vaul's blade, he found something interesting. The warriors of that particular world would play a vital role in the final battle against Chaos. However, currently they had little to no military. The only real combat they had seen was skirmishing against a nearby Tau outpost, that the planet now had a non-aggression pact with. Marchias informed his superiors of the importance of this world, telling them that Ulthwe would have to lead them in their militarization. Though Ulthwe lacked in their number of aspect warriors, they sent the teachers they could. Realizing that still wasn't enough Marchias contacted Biel-Tan. The Exarchs of Biel-Tan were reluctant to leave their posts to train Exodites when their skills could be used in battle. The Farseers of Biel-Tan, upon tracing the futures of Anaris, convinced the Exarchs that their legacy would help crush Chaos when the time came. Marchias led the expedition to Anaris, becoming the planet's head farseer. Several years into his tenure a troupe of Harlequins appeared from the world's Webway gate. They too had learned of Anaris' role and had come to teach its people of the corruption of Chaos. Now the residents of Anaris have begun training to prepare for their moment of greatness... My army will have many guardian jetbikes accompanied by swift aspects. This is because Marchias was a shing spear prior to being a farseer.

Well, My craftworld Ana'phaelas was lost during the fall with few survivors fleeing in the webway. the craftworld was lost in the eye of terror, and the survivors settled near, and had close ties with biel tan, as well as the harlequins (forever grateful for helping the escape through the webway. a legend of anaphaelas tells of it's most talented dancer being the first to take action and flee, leading the way). The craftworld isstill in the eye of terror, now settled by a band of offshoot Death guard. the Eldar of the craftworld are trhying to retake the craftworld so that they can pull it out of the eye of terror and regain their ancestral homes.

Awesome! I was going to play Ulthwe but I insist on playing by the rules of fluff. I am now going to create my own Craftworld. I love the idea's. It will be completly vanilla and allow for any force I want to play with out the fluff lovers telling me that is not a <insert craftworld name here> army. I will have the full fluff for the craftworld Kaela Mensha by friday for you all to take a look at. The Craftworld colors are going to be black and red. The craftworld symbol will be a bloody hand representing the war god. It will also require an Avatar of Khaine to be present in any battle. That will limit me on my HQ choices. I like the idea of being able to come up with my own story line. I hope that most of you approve. I will give you a little back story on my craftworld. They have been adrift for several melenia the craftworld's power source barely functioning to keep lifesupport operational. In order to save themselves they underwent a state of suspended animation. They now find themselves to be awakend in a new time. They are the blood eldar. Seeking vengenance on thier most hated foe the Necron. This is just a tidbit and needs futher development. I need some back story on the Deciever. I have plans for my new craftworld and I can not wait to share the story with you!

Sounds ambitious, and I can't wait to see it. The only drawback that I can see is that there is (Typically anyway) one Avatar of Kaine/Craftworld. Unless your Craftworld houses multiple Avatars (Which is technically impossible, but then again so are Ged's wings...) you would be hard-pressed to find an Avatar in every strikeforce. Now that doesn't man that he cant be central to all of your Army Lists, but in fluff it's something to consider. ![]() Good Luck, Ged

Looks like it could work. I suggest throwing in some dark greys for highlights, and maybe a complementary colour to go with the red and black. You can't got wrong with a bit of white or bleached bone.

A little dark blue or grey between plates would work wonders IMO, a solid mop of black can get bland, as I'm learing to my cost.
[hr] The fluff is quite interesting; perhaps your Avatar is particularly angry, even for an incarnation of the Bloody-Handed god, hense why it comes to war so often. However, keep in mind that your Eldar would be waging a war of attrition with themselves... an Eldar known as the Young King is sacrificed to the Avatar every time it is awakened, as you can see in the fluff plainly - and such a horrid death toll would be frightfulll to the Eldar. One alternative is for the Avatar of Khiela Mensha to be permanently wakefull; it would explain the vengefull and bloodthirsty thoughs of your Craftworlders. [hr] Myself, I created not a Craftworld but a Corsair fleet; I fell in love wiith the fickle, dangerous and exhilerating Path of the Pirate - Yarr! |
