Question: What do you think is an appropriate size army to take a wraithlord in?
One eldar player i know is thinking of 750p. I frankly thinks this is ridiclous, as my necrons have partically nothing to take this one, espically as its proned to hiding in ruins firing a starcannon, before storming out.Vechiles i have no trouble against, gauss weapons can anniliate them (if enough fire is poured into them). But high toughness creatures with high saves really need heavy destroyers, which i obviously can't afford in 750 points. In fact only pariahs (who are expensive and i don't want near a wraithlord), tomb spyders (easily crushed by wraithlord) wraiths (probably my best bet, but only wound on 6's and he still gets his save). I can't simply ignore him as he's very likely to hug to his troops then counter charge with it, and i don't have the points to get the veil and teleport. So basically One: Do you think its a little bit unfair to have a wraithlord in 750-1000 points, and any tactics to try and take it out. I can choose any necron unit you name, i have them all (hahahaha!). One thing i did think of is 3 tombspyders and a necron lord firing their particle projectors/staff of lights (wounds on 6's, no save) and then getting stuck into combat (wounds on 6's, but no saves). However 3 tombspyders is very expensive in 750 points and takes away alot from my points to contribute to "necron" models (i.e. ones that'll raise my phase out number) |

The wraithlord: IMO, the eldars greatest overused unit. And thus, i think using 1 in a 1500pt game is acceptable. Any more than that is powergaming.
Taking them out's simple: he CAN be ignored: just send a nice big block of warriors at him: he wont get thorugh them very quickly... And while they die, you kill the rest of his force.

I use a Wraithlord, but only one! ANd he's not the game winning thing that everyone claims he is! yep he's got T8 3+ save and 3 wounds, so wot? you now have to pay at least 105 pts for the thing now!

ah but in 750 points, against certain armies what's gonna harm it? what in my necron army can take out such things? heavy destroyers would be nice but are too expensive, but a wraithlord can easily fit in (espically in comparison to average troops cost in comparison with eldar/necrons).
Anyway any suggestions to take it out? unforuantly the tombspyders/necron lord looks like the go ahead, though its risky and expensive to take out one model. |

Life is but a gamble. Besides, its only a agme, and just think of how cool it'll be if it works.
A Titanic clash like that might just make the game even cooler, no?

indeed, but then again is it a game when an eldar player specically takes a wraithlord to cane people cause it has toughness 8. And it doesn't fit the fluff. Why would one of the most ancient, revered, and venerable martial warriors of
a dying powerful race be on a crappy little patrol? help me out there.it really is only a game if both play it as such |

No just ban any one who uses it in the campaign.
