I just bought a skyray box for the extra sprue, and I'm looking at it and wondering a few things...
1 - Would it be possible to use the skyray wings as a mount for a railgun, and/or both the railgun and the ion cannon, to be able to switch on a game-by-game basis? 2 - The little mini-drones on top of the skyray's wings, those are supposed to be markerlights, right? If they are, would they look too awkward used as separate marker drones, or would I have the mount the markerlight part onto a normal gun-drone chassis? |

![]() Just use the entire Skyray Seeker Missile launcher construction, but don't glue the circular, turret part to the top of the generic Tau skimmer chassis (basically, the turret will be able to swivle 360 degrees). You should also have the Hammerhead gun sprue, which will include a similar circular turret. As long as you don't glue either one to the chassis, you can pop out one turret and pop in the other easily. This allows you to switch between Skyray and Hammerhead easily. The Hammerhead options, however, are a bit more complicated. What I did, was file down the 'stub' that inserts into the bottom of the Ion Cannon/Railgun, glued a rare earth magnet to it, and glued magnets into each of the guns with a little bit of elbow grease and jury rigging of spure bits to get the magnets to the appropriate depth. The magnets aren't totally necesarry but they make things more pleasing to the eye as the guns won't be 'drooping' due to lack of glue.

I mounted a pair of ion cannons and a railgun onto the wings with bluetac. I think it looks a bit...... too heavy, but then again, I'm trying to mount two heavy weapons at once onto a hammerhead. Any suggestions/comments?

That is a little heavy. Looks more Apocalyptic, to me.
![]() What are you trying to do with it, exactly. Use as a Hammerhead one game, and a Skyray the next? Or is it a new unit? |

The Ion Cannons - no. They're just too heavy and bulky to be supported by those wings and it just doesn't look right in general. The Railgun looks neat though. You could mount the drone weapons on the end of the wing, like have two co-axial Burst Cannons on either end, that could look pretty good. If you want Ion Cannons as well, you could always try mounting them in the nose - it'd require a lot of conversion though.

sorry for not being able to remember correct word for them, but you could have 3 of the mini-gun looking things underslung on each wing

Burst Cannons.
If I were you, I would undersling the guns to make it look more like the T1 from Terminator and an HK

I've done some work on it today, and glued the Railgun in place; it was a perfect fit on top of the wings.
![]() Now I'm trying to decide what to put on the slots of the wings. I'd use burst cannons like suggested, but I'm going with a SMS with this railhead... I could always put both sets of weapons so it looks cool, and decide on a game-to-game basis which to use, since it's already a hybrid hammerhead/skyray... suggestions? |

here is my suggestion:
On the front, use a sensor array in the center On the sides, used 2 Burst Cannons On the skyray tips, 2 underslung ion Cannons On the center of the skyray, 1 Railgun Under the skyray wings close to the turret center, 2 seeker missiles Under the skyray wings close to the wing tips, 2 SMS pods That way it has like every weapon, and looks kinda like a gunship or hind helicopter.
