Default Tau King Crab

Well I had this idea and I suck at rules so I sort of wrote up the hole Evalution of this thing and maybe Wargamer could put it into some really cool rules for me as he is so good at them.

I also included the photos of the conversion as it is done except for painting.

Hope you like it as much as I do.

The Tau King Crab seems very new and only a few have even been seen.
It is a little different from the other Tau vehicles.
It does not rely on Anti Grav to move.
So it can operate on high grave worlds to no grav worlds.

The Tau have seemed to relise that even though they do not believe in prolonged battle the Tau sometimes dont have a choice.

So it appears they have designed a new type of tank.

This tnak has more armor where the anti gravs would burn mass power and be much larger just to move this much armor around.

The creation of the King Crab was a Earth Castes creation to add the Hammerheads.
See his idea is that the Hammerheads cant sit and defend a city or Tau home world.
They need to be out on the battle field where they can move and fight.

So another tank needed to be designed that could come in and take the place of an imbedded Hammer head.

The King Crab can dig in using its eight large powerful legs and therefore leave only the slightest site of the top of its hull showing providing the King Crab with a hulled up position where only glanceing hit can be made.
(cannot move that turn if dug in.)

It also has large front power claws. This give it 2 strength 10 attacks monstrous creature rolling 2 D6 against armor pen.

But the Claws can be closed and drawn in against the hull porvideing +1 extra armour to the front hull.
Front armor 13 +1(if claws and burst are not used that turn)

The claws have built in burst cannons in each claw fired by drones.
If the claws are closed then the burst cannot be fired that turn.

The King Crab is a walker and is dropped into position and walks from there.
The Tau Air drop them directly next to the Hammerhead it will replace so there wasn't alot of need for anti grav and mobility but it allows the hammerhead to go back to being mobile and fighting.

Because the King Crab is dropped and fights alone its has the ability to carry with it an a Drone Squad of 8 Drones attached to it.
It can release these drones if infantry approach or the need dictates.

The King Crab can keep its drones on itself and they increase its armor by a +1 per side.
Side armor 12 (+1 armor increase per side if Drones stay on for the full turn and cannot be released until players next turn.)

Ther most common weapon is the Ion cannon where it can lay down alot of fire power and stop smaller tanks, troops etc.
Which is great becasue it allows the Hammerhead to go back to tank hunting.

The King Crab can also be used as Defensive platforms in Tau worlds where enemies attack the King Crabs take up defensive postitions not allowing enemy access to the tau cities etc.

The King Crab can be armed with the Rail Gun for an increase of 25pts.

The King Crab can take any gear from the vehicle armory.

Points is looking at about 250pts with 8 Gun Drones, 2 Burst Cannons, One Missile Pod and the Ion Cannon.

Armor 13frt, 12 side 10 rear.

Remember not painted.
I will be painting it a Red and Brown color and red/brown drones when I am done.

For such a huge model, MAN can it get around fast!!

I was just admiring it over on Kovash Tauva, and here it is, in all its glory.

What can I say GreyDeath, I'm speechless. You've done it again.

Please share with us the bits that you used to create this awesome monstrosity. It's just too magnificent to not try and make one.

Again, awesome job bud. Top notch as usual.

Interesting... If I understand you correctly, you're after a "Defensive Hammerhead", something designed to dig in and hammer the enemy rather than make hit-and-run... think I can help you there.
