Default Gonna Make a Scratch built Hierophant

Okay so my base is gonna be an old armorcast nid haruspex. But in your guys humble opinion, what should I use (bitz wise whatever) to make those gigantor hierophant legs. If I can find this out I can really get to work....I'm just wrackin my brain here and cant come to a conclusion. Thanks in advance.

CK

P.S. any other bitz you think would be good to add to it feel free to lemme know. I don't wanna look at any one elses work or what they used, I just want to know what YOU think. Thanks again.

Keep in mind if your using such a large piece of resin as the body base its rather spindly legs are gonna have to take some weight which almost certainly means having metal rod cores to ensure they're sturdy, I'd be more tempted to use multiple carnifex kits, someone took on such a project on 40k online, will see if I can spot it and post up the link, might be of some use to ya.

hmm, interesting with the carnifex thing. I believe I will take a few of those and add to the kit. Also, I will most likely be building the legs from scratch out of sculpey (not green stuff actual bakeable sculpy) smoothed down with a metal rod core.

You could cut the blade parts of the legs out of thick plasticard(2-3mm) and then add the metal rod to there the blade connects to the first joint of the leg, and blend it in with sculpey. Gives you a good material to be in contact with the ground, as plastic has an elastic, flexible quality, that means you're feet are more likely to flex a little than to break.

This will be an intresting topic to follow.

Cheers

When I made this guy:

I sculpted him in Sculpey, around a balsawood frame.

What I did not do is account for the joints and such. However, it is really easy to add a wire frame (or multiples) to reinforce them by cutting groves in the balsa after it's hardened. That would help counteract the additional stress, especially if you're going rather thin.

Sculpey hardens in the oven, hence the balsa frame, but something like Aves-Sculpt would be just fine over a plastic frame. The same principle should apply to the cardstock.

Hope the $.02 helps.
