Hi there.

I was skimming through the new CSM Codex at my local gamestore just yesterday, and I saw beautiful Nurgle CSM in a fitting dirty-grey colour scheme.

Since I have the patience of a little kitten (and the release of the Codex: Orks is sooo far away), I decided to occupy my mind and try to make some Nurgle Marines.

Here`s the first "prototype" result. Notice that I`ve used a Loyalist, since I wanted my chapter ("Death Wardens", hope this isn`t taken yet) to be "freshly" (well, "fresh" for Nurgle, anyway) converted:





The Nurgle symbol on the Bolter was a bitch to finish, but I think it looks nifty.
Since I haven`t done any Chaos before, I´d like to know if this is "enough" slime and pus. I didn`t want to go overboard - he`s a regular CSM with the symbol of Nurgle. My main intention is to paint their faces in a quite sick tone, and show decay and corruption only where the armor has been pierced (bullet holes, joints) - they are just starting to rot, and their armour is still mostly intact.
The Plague Marines will look, well, definitely NOT as healthy as this one, and I´ll go overboard on them

Looks good, personally I'd have a little more, but as you said they're supposed to be 'new', so it's alright.

I would put something on the right shoulder pad but it's fine especially for a first CSM. The painting idea that you've got sounds really cool and should complete the nurgle illusion! Good work!

I think even if they are new to chaos they would have defiled their aquila in some way even if not chopped it off completely. i would take a hobby knife and cut it up a bit to show this.

Yes, I know, the Imperial Eagle and the "clean" shoulderpad look out of place, but this is just a prototype - I`ve got a Plaguemarine in the works right now, who looks... well... mutated, to say the least...

I`ll post a pic of him as soon as the Green Stuff settles.

looking good so far, i used just random chaos and loyalist marines from my bits box, they turned out fine..

Father Nurgle would be proud, also, I was thinking, for the Aquila on the CSM's chest, maybe you could scratch some of it off and apply some green stuff, so it looks like the Aquila has rotted off.

oooh i've just thought of good idea, lately i've been melting tau for my nurgle tau with my heat gun, it works like a hairdryer but its smaller and hotter, it'd be great for melting symbols and such

Yeah, I´ll take the "Aquila rotten off"-approach, suits best.

As for the shoulderpads of the "normal" teams, I need to come up with a Chapter symbol...

Alright, as promised, here the Plague Marine recruit:







The thing growing out of his left shoulder is an eye, as is the thing above the barrel of his Bolter. I like how he turned out, though the Bolter looks somewhat strange (I like the eye, though).
