Default Slanni Carnids.

Some of you will be aware of the development of a Slanni (read Lizardmen) tranaslation into 40K. Have a look at the house rules board. I'm starting this thread as motivation and communication as I start to work on the models for the Carnids. Advice, criticism and general input would be nice.

The focus on this camera is fixed unfortunately, which means it's too close for far off stuff, and too far for near work. I'm not yet done on these guys, I need to add some more texture to the armour.
Has anyone got some ideas for how I can make the armour look more high tech? No hoses, I'm tryinh to keep all systems integrated a la Tau.

very nice modelling, perhaps seeing as they have 3+ saves and 4+ saves give them some sleek (tauish) body armour on the shoulders to give them a more hi-tech look. As long as it looks like their own then i think that may work.

Too look high tech without hoses (darn! It would have been easier... ) just look at the Tau, Eldar and Space Marine armour. They have jagged lines pushing through it in a pattern (the tau body and eldar...can't remember about the space marines.)

So if you do some square cornered lines in the armour and make it as symetrical as possible, you should be able to get a "high tech" armour look...

You could even get some variations between armour by putting thicker "chunks" of armour in between some lines (look at the eldar chest palte).

..lol...Now I'm out of Ideas, but it should work!

Default Armor

I'm really liking these guys - excellent conversion work - what's the bitz run down?

Maybe go with a more organic looking armour for their take on 'hi-tech' - or look to the Predator armor for some inspiration.

The entire model was made from the Warhammer Saurus warrior kit. The right weapon is a spear with most of the shaft removed, the left hand is holding a cut down Saurus sheild. The shoulder pads are from the kit, and the horizontal spikes on the head are clipped from the Saurus Banners. That and a whole heap of greenstuff. The only bit which wasn't in the kit is the circular slottabase.

The last of the greenstuff is drying now. I'll have a picture of it as soon as I get back after Easter.
