Default XV-66 battlesuit commander, Eldarine "Sea Dragon" pattern (WIP)

Okay, inspired by a pic I've seen on the main TO website, http://www.tauonline.org/ViewContent.php?id=48 I've decided to start a conversion of my newer Shas'O. He is going to look something like that except for a few minor details... But I have run into a speedbump... I can't fully get rid of the origonal Stealthsuit helmet. I've cut off most with clippers and shaved it alot with a file, but still can't get it fully off! (Blast these damned metal models! lol) Please help!

Well I can't really give too much advice without seeing the model.

You could a) keep filing, b) buy a dremel and carefully saw off the rest of the head or c) slap on some greenstuff and hope noone notices.

Like I said I can't really say with any certainty what would be the best thing to do without seeing the model. Post a pic an maybe I can help you a little more.

use a bigger file
it will get done quicker and then use a smaller file for the delicate parts
hope it helps

The thing is, I need to file it down between the shoulderpads... I'm also giving him an Eldar powersword and a shurikan catapault :O he will look awsome in the end and will be one helluva original Shas'O!

Yes, that IS an Eldar shurikan catapault on the burst cannon!

Another pic... I am going to apply gorrilla glue to the swordhand to keep it attatched to the arm, which it has been falling off of ALL DAY. If GG does not work, nothing will lol. Note, the sword is not positioned like that, and the reason it's so blurry is because it was kinda falling off when the pic was taken... Fixed that though... Got alot of fileing to do to get rid of all that glue...

You could try clipping away chunks around neck with some wire cutters. That might make it easier to file the rest off. Take your time and just be careful while filing, you don't want to damage any detail on the model. However, it won't be the end of the world if you do mess up, you can always model it as battle damage with a bit of work.

As for the sword and arm, I highly suggest buying a pin vice. It is well worth the $15 GW charges for it. You really don't want alot glue ruining the detail. It will also help keep the head of your model secure. Trust me, it is a definite must-have tool for conversion work.

id use clippers to get down the bulk of the thing as you could break the saw if you turn it at a right angle
good luck

Yeah, you totally need a rotary tool to finish off that head. Doesn't have to be a Dremel. Here in Canada you can find a decent one for about $30-40 if you go with one of the knock-offs, instead of like $70-100 for a Black & Decker Dremel.
