Default Question about types of conversions

I've heard some people say that chaos is easy to make because you could take something that basically looks like a blob and say it's a chaos spawn or something.

Now I've just bought some modelling putty ("green stuff") and I made a mutated Tau arm if I ever want a chaos touch to my army (if anyone has played Soul Calibur, I intended it to look like Nightmare's arm). My question is, do you think that people in general won't be appealed by chaos conversions because they might be..easy to make or something (maybe lack of imagination is a better phrase I'm looking for)?

Also as a side note I'm making a Tau jetbike out of a Dark Eldar jetbike.* It's pretty simple so far but my friends say it looks awesome. I'll be sure to post pics once I get my hands on a digital camera.

Default Chaos Conversions

Personally, I think the conversions of minis to a Chaos look is not as easy as it seems. Yes, you can be a bit messier (esp. Nurgle) and you can let your imagination go wild (after all, it is Chaos), but you still want something that looks cohesive as an entire mini - which is not as easy.

People may be turned off by a Tau/Chaos mix, just because there isn't any fluff precident (other then the brief bit on the DH against Tau that were being decieved by a demon), but if that is what you want to do then go for it!!

Looking forward to those Tau-bike pics

I think of Chaos as a double edged sword.

On one side its dull but can still kill you with a strong enough blow.
Thats how I feel about these abominationas and what not made out of balls of clay.
Ya pretty easy to make and not pretty but you can convert up a hole army and fight and what not and have all these mutations.

But on the other side you have the sharp side.
This is the side with sweet converted and nicely sculpted green work thats just dazzling or impressive to look at.

Thats chaos in a nutt shell for me.

So when people say that then they fall on the one side of the sword.

Your arm sounds good and would love to check any and all conversion work.

I suck at Green stuff and could use the help.
So please show it.

Thanks.

Ok well I won't have access to a digital camera for a few days at least, so I just tossed the stuff into my scanner.

Probably can't see it from the pics but there is a vein running from the thumb area onto the shoulder armor and another running up to the side of it.

As you might be able to tell I just used my bare hands (no water as suggested), so there's some indents all over the model.

EDIT: The bike isn't scanning in very well. I'll try to get a pic by tomorrow.

Hey thats pretty cool.
Not bad at all.
May I make a suggestion?
put a small dap of GS over the grenade so you cant tell it was the grenade hand. Thats what I would do.

But ya not bad.
I like it.

Yep I realized that the grenade in the hand would kinda mess it up.* That and the fact that it is a Tau arm->Chaos (thus I probably won't make use of it), but it was my first time making something with the greenstuff and this was just a little experimenting thing, just used the bits that were closest*

Thanks for the feedback everyone.* You will be seeing some better stuff in the future ! ;D

Default Look good

The arm looks good - looks rather natural. Another finger may make it look more like it mutated from a Tau hand (3 fingers and a thumb). I had also notice the grenade and was wondering if it was actually meant to hold it
