Default SM -> Tau Bike Conversion!

+++I got inspired to make one by this topic. So here it is ;D+++

Front:

Left side:

Back:

Right side:

+++Something you may not be able to see, the arms are from a SM and a CSM biker (one of each 'cos I lost one of the SM ones that came in the boxed set!) although I chopped off 1 finger of each hand 'cos Tau only have 8 fingers+++

Default Nice start

Looking like a good solid start, though you need to bring up the foot plate so the feet reach it - and the arms look a little thick, I wonder if some of the Tau FW arms sans the weapons might work - will have to look... What are you going to do for the open wheel well areas?

+++Well I agree they do look a bit too big, but again, if I used tau arms I doubt they would reach the handlebars!+++

+++Well I was gonna just leave them as they are, but if you have a better suggestion then that's great... I think the back one looks fine but maybe I should take the front one off?+++

A shoulderpad on both arms would make it neater. Left arm looks much better than the right with the shoulderpad on it. Just rip of the foot plate and glue it on higher ;D, and angle the legs more... The guns look good btw. I'm gonna go start on mine now.

+++Well I want the rider to match with the normal Fire Warriors so it's best to just have one shoulder pad IMHO. Also If I use another one then I'll have to have one Fire Warrior with none+++

+++Not really possible with the way the components fit together... and if I decided to cut it up it'll probably just end up looking a mess+++

I think you can remove the foot plate and replace it with a heavy gun drone that you cut in half. Put half on each side. the only change I would recomend on thewhell wells is to make them rounder and smoother. More "tau-ish".

I wanted to see how it would look so I photoshopped them.

Scale isn't quite right, but I was guessing.

You could probably use the smaller gun drone as well - would be easier to cut at least. Also, the bike that Diz posted on the marine jet bike thread (the FF bike) might be a place for ideas on the wheel wheels.

You could also swoop back the handle bars a bit (more like a classic chopper) and the extended bars will help the shorterTau arms to reach.

+++I took of the front wheel recess 'cos I think it looks better like that. You can see the modification at the start of the topic now+++

+++Also if you're really observant you'll notice the carbines are actually different ones now - I used gun drone ones this time round. This was partly because I dropped the model and the old ones broke off, but also 'cos it just looks better that way +++

I would have to say cut off the bottom foot peg and loose it all togehter and just drill a small hole and make a foot tab.

Its tau small and smooth and stealthy is more what I think.

I wouldn't go larger with the drone etc.

I love what I see so far and I agree with the adding of another shoulder pad and giving him one more toughness etc.

Really good stuff and I was wondering how you where going to pull it off and you doing it and its looking great good stuff.

+++Interesting idea, although If I did that I'd also lose the piping going to the exhausts. I'll have to think about that some more+++

+++Again, I want to tie this guy in with the normal fire warriors, adding another shoulder pad would take away that element a bit. And normally the extra toughness gained by bike models is because of the bike itself deflecting shots away from the rider, rather than extra armour worn by him+++
