I've been flailing around, between my different armies lately. And I have had no clue what to start with...
So I have finally figured out what to do. Yay, converting ISTs. Most commonly, I use the Cadian IG infantry as base for the model. I have made a backpack out of the voxcaster on the IG sprue. I have cut off all antennas and stuff, and pulled a wire from the bottom of the pack into the lasgun clip. Thus making it a hellgun. Well, that's the main base of the model. As for heads... I have bought two packs of SM scouts (plastic). I love the models, but not the heads. So, I thought, hey this would look good on guardsmen...and it does. The head fits perfect with the look of the general IG model. But here is when the problem comes. Many players I have seen doing the IG convert into stormtroopers has gotten a lot of flak from their opponents. Sure the ST are marked differently than the other troopers, different gear, armament, different painted uniforms etc. But they have no carapace armor. I know a bit of buying plasticard to represent it. But it would be nice to have something to look after. Someone who has done this before. Or at least have pictures of something related. Anyone care to help? (I'll post some pics of how far I've gotten when I can acquire a camera.) |

I use IST with my radical DHs and use Tau FW torsos and crouching and leg poses because they are more strikingly cool. I put on similar modified lasguns and Ungor heads and Guardsmen heads. I like to chop it and throw in some Karsiken troopers. The look stocky, look like they all have carapace. I am not afraid to buyu some ISTs, very rarely get them in blisters and even rarer tovome accrossa box. I don't mixing them in. I am absolutely precise though when it comes to a plasma gun looking like a plasma guna dn hellgun looking like a hellgun.

What remains to be done are som armour plates on their legs and a cable from their hellgun to the backpack. Any tips to help out? |

Those really don't look like IST man. They look like cadians with a boxy backpack. I think they need greenstuff for extra armour because they don't look like IST.
Not bad really. I think they need some more work though.

If you used the night vision goggles from the scout box they might look better. And for a convertions they are pretty good.
