Default About to start some work, advice?

I've never

worked with green stuff or anything before.

I'm actually going to be

working on Tyranid BFG ships. I got a Tyranid Warrior sprue with 2 heads and 1 of

each of the Zoanthrope heads. The heads were all smaller than I thought, so instead

of using the Warrior heads as Kraken and the Zoanthrope heads as cruisers, the Warrior

heads will be drones and the Zoanthrope heads will be kraken.

Anyway,

the Warrior heads will only need a little work, but the Zoanthrope heads are pretty much

hollow. I'll have to fill them out and model them a little. Any words of

wisdom?

firstly, practice

makes perfect...so play around a little, get the feel of whatever your working with. if

you're using greenstuff, get 2 things: the games-workshop sculpting tool (it

doesn't cost that much), and a pin...also, while you're working with

greenstuff, make sure its well lubricated. use either plenty of water or vaseline to make

the tool slide well, and stop it sticking to your tools. if you use vaseline, make sure

you wash your mini first though . also, once greenstuff is dry, it can be sanded with a

really fine grit sandpaper, something like 1200 grit

Can I slowly build

up the green stuff, or all at once?

Build with green stuff a layer at a time, don't doo too much at one go, thats just more for you to go and accidentally squash.
If you let it set between workings it will turn out much bettter in the long run.

Good luck, let us know how it goes.
