Im considering coding a php/mysql based content management system that can utilise templates etc.. except that i need some ideas..

basically, the idea came through when looking at clantemplates.. and wondering if i could convert the template for easy integration into content management systems which are based on one sole admin account and used for personal (not business) use..

its use will be simple, grab a template, replace sections of code with predefined php code - 3 things, banner, menu, and content. (ie <?php function [menu/banner/content]> in the template.. then a dynamic index page gets the template and replaces the php sections with the appropriate code

hopefully if i start this, it is for my own use and to satisfy what i need in a php/mysql system.. however i might make it public if people want to use it..

im still a newbie at php, but if people are interested, i might persue this further (in an attempt to update my existing coding)

i have a lot of things to learn (more advanced php coding, sessions etc).. and a lot of things in mind (eg menu can be text or images, the text can have prefixes and suffixes, guests can have the option to select text/image menus [via cookie settings], content can be displayed as raw html content, lists of articles [sortable], the articles themselves... top banner/image can be aligned at watever the admin wants.. hmm editable footers.. oh and, any customisations are stored in the databse, so all that needs to be backed up is the database, and configuration files..)

just a thought..

on a side note.. the existing coding ive already done (for my website.. until my host went).. articles can be listed/displayed, and have thumbnail images associated with them, and they can link to urls instead of an article....

edit: however.. there are already a lot of CMS's (content management systems) out there.. i could always settle for mambo.. :S
