Hey... I was playing a guy who was using chaos the other day, it made me want to get back into the old ways of murder and magic. So here it is... i list i will only use for VASSAL because i dislike the metal TS models.
What do you think?? Why so many icons? It makes sense when you have a few terminators, demons, or multiple oblits dropping but it might be a waste on just one obliterator.
Raptors... I'm not really seeing the MoK fitting with TSs at all. And I would throw some meltas in here to help with tanks because your lacking in good anti-tank. I would go with a power fist on the champ for the same reason. Sorcerer: He doesn't need a familiar does he? Sorcerers of Tzeench can already take 2 powers... correct me if I'm wrong about that. Regardless I would drop a power. Wind and Doombolt target the same types of enemies, just at different ranges. I would stick with just wind. If you really want 2 powers, Wind and warptime makes for an utterly nasty combination. Not to bad, but you do need more anti-tank. |

Cheers for the Input. i got some many icon because i may DS my raptors aswell, then i know they will land safely, cheers for the heads up on the familiar, that along with dropping the khorne icon gives me about 50 points spare.... now what to buy....

Icons can not be used by raptors. Only things that 'teleport' onto the battlefield(demons/terminators/oblits) can use icons. Raptors and demon princes just fall from the sky and icons don't help.
50pts... Meltas for the raptors, maybe a few meltabombs on aspiring sorcerers. And I would switch either doombolt or wind for warptime, warptime in combination with either of those powers(especially wind) makes them even more powerful... not to mention making the sorcerer better in hth. |

personally i would drop the raptors..... not very "dusty" now are they. with all those icons it may be worth taking some daemons .... there cheep enough and can claim quarters.. i use them lots to slow the advance of troops and to contest objectives other than that id say a good list !!

I've been dabbling with my Thousand Sons (the complete opposite of Dark Eldar) and...

I would change your list to this: Keep the lord but change the powers to warptime and either doombolt or wind of chaos. Of course drop the jump pack, icon and familiar. Keep the troops but dropping one of the rhinos - the squad without the rhino can start the game on the objective as campers, kinda expensive for that though. Drop the Raptors (not being part of the background of the 1k sons). Add 2 squads of lesser daemons of 9 each (keeping the sacred number or 9) as this will give you 5 scoring units and these 2 squads being cannon fodder (expendable). Keep the oblit and 1 defiler - sorry, the points do not allow much more and this comes to 1501 (you might even have to drop an icon on another troop choice but that is limiting yourself a bit). It's tough to be truly a Thousand Sons list as both the obliterator and the defiler are not quite a part of them. I would say a predator would be more in line or even a dreadnaught but even some can argue that as well. Good luck and happy hunting!

I've been thinking about trying this list at 1750 (you cant just remove the obliterators and the dreadnaught for the 1500 list)
HQ Chaos Lord 135 Pair of Lightning Claws Mark of Tzeentch Meltabombs ELITE 8 Possessed 283 Icon of Tzeentch Rhino Chaos Dreadnaught 100 Missile Launcher TROOPS 9 Thousand Sons 294 Aspiring Sorcerer Personal Icon Doombolt Rhino 9 Thousand Sons 294 Aspiring Sorcerer Personal Icon Doombolt Rhino 9 Lesser Daemons 117 9 Lesser Daemons 117 HAVY SUPPORT Chaos Predator 130 Lascannon Sponsons Chaos Predator 130 Lascannon Sponsons 2 Obliterators 150 The list is made with the 3rd edition codex in mind, only using units that were allowed in a thousand sons army back then, and with adherence to sacred numbers ![]() Ofcourse the obliterators weren't allowed, but i intend to use the termi-lord model for them, modelled as sorcerers, with a couple of thrall wizards on the same base (maybe one expended )The list is pretty balanced between shooting and close combat, so it should be able to stand up to most TAC lists.
