Default Thousand Sons

An awesome book. Truely awesome. Ahriman is probably my new favorite character. Props to McNeill for actually making Ahriman into a sympathetic character.

I'm reading it now and just got to the chapter where Nikaea takes place. So far I'm enjoying it. I did find the first 1/4 of the book a bit on the dull side but it's quickly picked up.

I like the formalising of all the different types of pyskers in it, and yes, Ahriman seems alright. All of the Heresy books seem to have someone who seems 'good' and loyal. Council of Nikea = mistake IMO

I.... like the book, it just took me forever. It took me about 3 weeks to get through, as opposed to every other book in the series having taken me less than 2 days. It has so much information and so much to take in and think about that it's amazing. Blood ravens? Check.

Although.... nikea.
The emperor outright banned librarians? Am I the only one who saw this.... going against established fluff? I thought it would be more complicated than the big E standing up and saying 'hey, just because I do it, doesn't mean you can, knock it off.'

Also.... more Emperor dickitude. The chair had been alluded to, but now it's put out there as truth that he wanted to use magnus in it.
Too much info... brain overloaded with preheresy goodness.

Nikea sounds analogous to Nicaea, the site of several important Ecumenical Councils in the Christian Church. These Councils set church doctrine and other practices.

Interesting choice by the author.

The counsel of Nikea was fluff that was around for a long time. I think since 2nd ed. I think it's mostly mentioned in Ksons fluff than anywhere else.

I absolutely love this book. There was so much information I couldn't put it down. I actually have sympathy for Ahriman and the Ksons, their primarch made a huge mistake with the best intentions and they all paid for it. Can't wait for the other side of the story.

I think at this stage the BL want us to feel sympathetic towards the KSons, but Prospero Burns will probably make everything a little more...grey. From this book I think that the Space Wolves are bastards, especially the rune priest who first spoke against the KSons at the council. Then you have the Custodes, who's leader is described quite plainly as a 'killer'. So far, the KSons really do look like the good guys who get shafted by the Emperor.

Although taking a while to get started properly, this is one of the best heresy books that the BL have put out. So much information! Blood Ravens ;D

I.... don't get the wolves. The way it looked was that they were actually wulfen or warp entities, but... it was left open with any of 5 or more explanations.
