Default Warhammer 40k books; Necron, Tau, Tyranid, orks?

Just wondering if anyone knows of any of the warhammer books that are written in either f these four armies perspectives and, if not, which ones are written about fighting against them? All the books I have read so far have gotten boring having all been about guard or SM and they have started to get a little dull.

This should probably be posted in The Black Library forum, located here: http://forums.tauonline.org/index.php/board,93.0.html

I'm sure a mod will move this for you. I would if I could but I'm powerless in this board *sniffles*

As am I

Tau: 13th Legion (Gav Thorpe), the Rogue trader series - Rogue Star and Star of Damocles (I own them, and cannot even remember who wrote them).

These don't show much from Tau perspective, but from what I hear about 13th its a good example of fighting them, and the Rogue Traders series has a very interesting look at Tau Space battles and how they subverse imperial worlds.

Firewarrior is the only Tau perspective book.

I'm loathe to recommend it, but Kill Team has the Tau as the main opponents, though he fluff behind it is shoddy as hell.

If you haven't read the Ciaphus Cain books yet, don't be so quick to dismiss the Imperial Guard books. He's is my favorite character in the entire fluff history of GW.
He allies up with Tau and Kroot in one book, but more importantly I feel that he gives every race their fluff due. Tyranids, Necrons, Chaos Space Marines, Tau, Orks, etc. All are portrayed dangerous and very well, imo the most realistic fluff we've ever had grace Black Library... and it is an Imperial book series.

From Imperial Guard Novel's perspective:
- Tyranids: Ciaphas Cain: For the Emperor and Duty Calls, Desert Raiders
- Orks: Ciaphas Cain: Death or Glory and Caves of Ice, 15 Hours, Rebel Winter, Deathworld, Gunheads
- Necron: Ciaphas Cain: Caves of Ice
- Tau: Last Chancers: Kill Team, Ciaphas Cain: For the Emperor

Actuall Xeno perspective:
- Orks: Blood and Thunder, Deff Skwadron (Both are Graphic Novels)
- Eldar: Farseer

I know you said you were tired of reading Marines / Guard but if you like to read Chaos Marines one of my, if not favorite 40k novel is Storm of Iron. It was probably the 2nd 40k novel out of now dozens and dozens I read and I still go back to it every now and then. Great book if you haven't had the chance to read it and can stomach another Marine novel even though this one is Chaos.

Storm of Iron was great in my opinion. The fact it's told from the perspective of both sides, Chaos and Imperial, is what makes it stand out.
