Default Sabbat Martyr Question

Hey All, I recently purchased "The Saint" Omnibus by Dan Abnett. I read through the books, and finished it. I really liked it.

I had a few questions concerning Sabbat Martyr, and the situation of Saint Sabbat in the book.

Why is it only Gaunt that realizes that Sanian is not Saint Sabbat?

Who is the girl Brin meets in the street fight, and then dies?

Why, after her death, does Sanian become Saint Sabbat?

Its kinda confusing. Sorry if any of these questions seem stupid.

1) Because Gaunt is a true believer, pious servant of the Saint and Emperor, and everyone else involved is pretty much a lying little shitbag.

It's worth noting that the people tending to "the Saint" know she's a fake as well - hence they're so shocked when the real Saint arrives.

2) See above; that was Saint Sabbat reborn.

3) Because the Saint requires a host, presumably. I suggest you research the Thorians for more information on the phenomena.

I had thought that the "real" Saint died when she got in the path of that Blood Pact Tank. And then somehow came alive again?

The body dies, but the spirit moves to a different vessel, in this instance it was Sanian.

I haven't read Sabbat Martyr in a long time so the timeline in my head may be off a little.

Oh, alright. I didn't think such a process was instantaneous. :-\

But thanks for the replies, people. I guess we can lock this thread up, if nobody has anything else to say.

Its not just Gaunt who doesnt believe she is sabbat, Ludo basically says they he knows she isnt the real saint. But what he says is true, it doesnt matter whether Sanian is the real saint or not, as long as people believe she is. For me, the fact that Zweil went running from the was the final proof for me that she isn't the saint
