Heya,
![]() I've just started reading this book, and, it's not what I expected. First off, flipping back and forth from the appendix and the story itself is very irritating, and by the time i've looked up the word I didn't understand, i've forgotten it when I get back to the page I was at. I preferred what Sandy Mitchell did in the Ciaphas Cain series and number the 'odd' words and then have them at the bottom of the page. Not the best book I've read, but it is the most confusing i've read. Thoughts |

I was oddly confused about who was who, all these names just popped up! Just confused me throughout the book. Even reading the appendix got me confused as well. but yet it was a good book :P Ciaphas Cain novels were brilliant, there are more to come! ;D

I haven't finished my copy of Eldar Prophecy, and it's too damned confusing. If they do a second one, I might not get it...

Is this even a novel about Eldar? I would've liked to have something that shows how the craftworlds live, and all - but when "a youthful eldar warrior wreaks destruction across the craftworld", is it really about the Eldar?

Read it, liked it, although that "omg, it was all planned by the dark gods aeons ago!" spirit is getting almost cliche.
Besides, that's one extraordinarily screwed up craftworld, a unique situation I'm sure.

You buy a book by CS Goto, you get what you paid for :
![]() Eldar Prophecy takes everything nice about Eldar, and destroys it. I had to wash my eyes with vinegar after reading a few pages of it. I'll admit this is my personal opinion, but I despised the book. Its badly written, the characters are all rip offs of one generic formula, its as if the author has never read any fluff for that army (which he probably hasn't) and its horrific.

I would respectfully disagree with that, although everybody has different tastes.
I would point out though that it would be wierd if Goto hasn't read any Eldar fluff, because Eldar are in all of his books. If anything, I'm sure he's sort of a fan (at least that's the impression I got).

Moving Wave Serpents (at around 200kph) can be destroyed by human children bashing through the view slits in the atmo sealed hull : ![]() Surfing Terminators (Ok, I know thats not eldar, but still. 11th Level of hell awaits this man) Eldar Harlequins getting wiped out utterly by single marines, or getting out fought in h-t-h by guardsmen. All Eldar forces dying in incompetant, useless masses. And these are just a few, generic examples from his 'work' on Eldar.
