Default Official GW Tau Fiction - what are the titles

I'd like to write some Tau fan-fiction, but I've never read Fire Warrior, so I need to.

But I hear there are a couple of other books that deal with Tau from varying points of view. I'd like to read them all and get an idea of what GW is doing with the Tau so I can build believably upon those points.

Aside from Fire Warrior, what other titles deal with Tau?

Kill team, Gav Thorpe.
Xenology has a bit on their biology.
Can't think of anything else, and Fire Warrior has been regarded as highly suspcious as far as official fluff goes.

Kill team is actually out of production now for some time, so if you want to get your hands on it search sites like ebay and such - waterstones recently was selling an omnibus which contained it and two other imperial guard novels - that's probably your easiest option!

There is practically no Black Library fiction on the Tau. To write fan fiction though, you don't really need anything more than a basic knowledge of Tau, which I would guess you already have.

If you come to an area you aren't sure about, guess and make something up. If it's too strange people will tell you.

Also, I've found the best place to post fan fiction of any kind is on the Black Library forums.

Actually, Black Library books aren't really official canon fluff. If it was, then we'd see Firewarriors wipe out entire armies single handedly. Only a small part of Black Library's books are canon, being Gaunt's Ghosts.

As a rule of thumb, anything written by Dan Abnett is beyond Canon... it's Deitic.

My guess is "dietic" means it is somehow god like in its importance and value. Gaunts Ghosts, while not bad books, aren't cannon fluff any more than the Space Wolf books were. There many, many points in the books that I have wanted to slap Abnett silly for either massive plot holes, obcene luck for the Ghosts, or just screwing up official GW fluff.

The Ghosts are canon, the Sabbat Worlds crusade is canon, the Blood Pact are canon, the hot shot, the stalk tanks, and Gaunt are canon. Want me to name some more? I really don't see how he screwed up GW fluff.

I think hes more referrring to plot than anything else. SPOILER WARNING Necropolis, Gaunt takes out a demon prince and survives. Things like that. The raw details are fine, hotshots, whine and crack of lasguns, all good. But it's the big things that can do it.

It's like painting a giraffe onto an elephant; the painting might be wonderful, the details superb, but you can still tell that it's an elephant underneath.
