Looks interesting, I'll see if I can find it around here once it comes out.. though I am current waiting on Dawn of War to come in, along with Warrior Coven..

Very good so far. I'm just three quarters of the way through. A few oddities, but generally a nice book.

However, I shall share with you one excellent quote by the Warmaster himself:

"I came here looking for Spirits...and found only this wine."

I was quite amused anyway... :

I'm half way through and some of the things contained within just mess with your whole view of the 40k universe

The book is written from the point of view of 10th company captain Garviel Loken during the time of the crusade and has such is a great source of detail for the crusade and the events leading up to the heresy.

I recomend that everyone with any interest in the 40k universe whatsoever (so, everyone on this forum) gets a copy of this book as it is the first time the Heresy has ever been fully explained in detail, and who better to do it than 'Gaunt's Ghosts' author Dan Abnett.

I'll leave you now with the introductory quote: "I was there the day Horus killed the Emperor..." I promised you will be mindnumbingly suprised at the content

EDIT: oh and by the way the book is called 'Horus Rising'

Thought for the day: "Could we not have just left them alone? No."

I have just finished the book and I take back everything I said about you all having to read it, onlly those who "know" at least a little on the heresy can really appreciate this book.

The blood Angels were my first, and still my most beloved, army and I have always damned Horus for his murder of Sanguinius...Yet now I see him in a different light.

The book does not reach to the Heresy itself (from my reckning it will be covered in three volumes if not more), but details some of the happenings before-hand, such as the root of Abaddon's bitterness towards Horus. Horus' extreme, unwavering loyalty towards his father, the Emperor and towards his fellow primarchs, his brothers.

What I have said here does not even begin to scratch the surface of the implications made by 'Horus Rising' and I am not ashamed to admit that I actually shed a tear when I thought of what it meant in terms of Horus' actions in the Heresy itself.

This, in my opinion, is not only Dan Abnett's best work but the most important piece of literature ever made by the Black Library as it will send ripples through the entire 40k universe and make every last person ever involved with a Chaos or Imperial force question the morals of thier chosen force.

Thought for the day: The 'Emperor' protects

I was amazed by how the Pre-Heresy Imperium are almost identical to the current Tau Empire in their views and methods. Tau added to 40K for irony perhaps?

Excellent book. Must read for 40K fans.

There are some moments in the book that have meanings to us that i thought were great. Personally i have put bookmarks throughout, in some of the best bits.

You wont finish this Luna Wolves. The stars will have long forgotten your name when the Imperial Fists war abroad again
Of course this is true. First they change their name to Sons of Horus, and then to the Black Legion (unless im confused, which i often am)

At the front of them, the dark figures of First company's foremost Terminator squad, the Justaerin. They wore polished black armour, dark as night, as if they were part of some other black legion
Same as above.

I used to be entirely against chaos, and now i realise that they dont just kill because they want to. In a way they have a right.
