So what did you think of the book? I've read it a few times, and thought it was pretty decent.

The plot etc might have been a bit lacking, but it had more than the game, though, as it was based off and expanded on the game, there wasn't really much choice in what Spurrier could do in terms of writing/plot etc. However - it did provide an insight on the Tau, treading in relatively untouched territory in terms of fluff/universe/background on the Tau.

It is unmissable if you want background on the Tau.

The rest is fanboy tripe.

I want to read the book but no library in my city has it, Black Library is out of stock, Games Workshop is out of stock, the local gaming stores are out of stock and my local super bookstore Chapters is also out of stock. Unless they do a second print or it gets released for free on the internet, I doubt I will be able to read it for it's fanboy fluff/tau background.

I wouldn't put it exactly like that. He had to write a story based upon the narrative of a computer game. First-person-shooters (with their "one man slaughtering entire armies" process) don't exactly make for realistic stories.

All things considered, I thought he did amazingly well. The original script of Fire Warrior was written by Andy Chambers and Gav Thorpe and Jon Gillard of GW, with other members of the Kuju Design team.

Spurrier mentions throughout the story, how off-footed the Imperial forces have been caught to show the Tau's success (Ultarmarines being ignored at Severus' orders, the stormtroopers were a 'green' regiment that was being put together, the Navy forces couldn't just blow the Tau away, because they were under orders to capture an Ethereal, etc).

Sounds good. I would hope it was better than the narrative in the game, but from the sounds of it I don't need to worry too much about that.
Are there many other books with a lot of Tau background in them, or is this the main one?

You could try ordering it...?
Try some other large book stores like Borders, or you could try the internet.

The plot line wasn't really feasable.... IMO. I especially disliked the ending and the whole thing with "the tau with the bomb in his head". It sounded very... well, corny to me. That, and you could easily tell that the book was designed around the game. It should have been the other way around. The ending was written like a mario boss...

Although I heard that the guy who wrote it really cranked it out in a short period of time, so I guess it's pretty good when you consider how it was written. :P

I liked it. Not necessarily the "move shoot kill all stuff"´, but the more subbtle things. Like how Kais compared himself to a drone bomb, how he wondered was it worse to become a raving berserk, or a unfeeling machine like the techpriest.

I specificly liked the part where the Ethereal and the Caste members kept their meeting, that gave a lot of insight to the attitudes and behaviour of castes. (specificly the water caste, who were selfassured and overconfident contrasting the earth caste Fio´El, who was troubled when he had to speak in public )

Also, I found interesting on the part where the Titan is destroyed, that the Ultramarine sent Kais there while secretly hoping he would fail. Sort of hoping that the alien (Tau) would prove worse weak and powerless, so he himself could win heroicly save the day. I would have liked more data on the fleet action, what I could gather was that Tempestus prime (the fleet sent to help the governor) was maybe 20 ships strong, and had atleast two battleships (Purgatus and Blade of Woe or what it was called.) I think they didn´t have any or only minimal number of escorts. I would have liked more info on the fleets.

Overall, I think the book was a lot better then most give credit. The part where Imperial navy man escorts Raptors to teleportation is also a good sight of how imperials view marines.

But when they refer to Toroq and Juntas sides of the ship (port&Starport, or maybe left&right), can in be found out which is which?

i don't think you can go overboard on the fleet because then it would stray from the story line

Can you tell me that a ONE tau ship destoryed a Ememy Imperial Ship in a side to side fight? How the Tau destoryed the Boarding Crew, Attack back at them, killed like 15 Space Marine WITH ONE TAU, killed a buch of Daemons, Chaos Marines, and a Dreadnought?

If you can answear that please tell me : : :
