Default Waaagh! Gorespittle vs Ultramarines 2nd Company - 1,000pts - 30/10/09

The first rays of sunlight slowly began to appear upon the horizon. Silence reigned as five cloaked figures carefully moved towards the Ork camp. They couldn’t make a visual sighting on the camp but they knew precisely where it was. The smell of dung, gunpowder and lubricating oil was distinguishable for miles. Minutes later they found what they had been sent to reconitoire, the ramshackle buildings of the Orkish warband. The leader raised his left hand to the combead in his ear and the part of his blue shoulder armour became visible, the stylized U of the Ultramarines. “Captain. Target sighted. Location confirmed. Awaiting orders”. A few moments later the reply came. “Prepare to engage brother”. . . . .

Ultramarines Tabled!

Raising his slugga to the red tinged sky Warboss Gorespittle let out a deafing roar of victory as he emptied the full magazine. All around him his Boyz copied him. The ‘blue beakie boyz’ were in retreat and being harried by those vehicles that were still able to give chase. Gorespittle began stomping back towards the dead bodies of the ‘turminaturs’ looking for the body of the ‘leader beakie’. With a snarl of rage he discovered that ‘the beakie’ had somehow escaped unnoticed. Cheated of his first head he jumped aboard his idling wagon, clubbed the driver round the head and pointed towards the retreating Ultramarines. . . . . . .

That was pretty brutal! Seems like you swarmed the Imperials too fast for them to do anything about.

I am curious as to why he deployed like he did though - it is pretty obvious that he would need as much shooting as possible to stand a chance here and after your deployment he could've castled in the north-west OR north-east corner with his entire force which would've enabled him to prioritize targets a lot better, also he could've screened his terminators (which truly proved to be useless this game) with for example scouts.

Still though, with the speed of Trukks and your deployment covering a lot of ground he didn't have a lot of places to go. That being said you played well and took it home nicely despite of some terrible shooting at the start of the game (trukks being disabled)

Seems like that table was a bit terrain heavy with the three huge LOS blocks seriously crippling their range advantage, which is a big advantage for an assaulty army. Good job running the table though. Kill da beakies.

When I looked at your list I was a bit surprised your boyz mobz weren't bigger, that seems to be the standard for the new ork army.

I have to agree with you that we used a little too much terrain, really funny thing is it was my friend who set the terrain up whilst I was helping my dad with the tv ;D

The Trukks suffered a bit of bad luck this time. Really annoying to have the Nob Trukk immobilised on the first turn, that could of hurt me overall.

Was the layout of the BatRep easily understandable/confusing? Would you like more story in the next one? Is there anything you would like to see added or removed?

Next time wont be as easy. Friend is probably gonna bring his pair of Vindicators. >

Pettsy the way you laid out your battle report was simple and easy to read. All them things make it a good read. Some battle reports on the forums and am guilty too are just so hard to read and make out what’s going on. You got it just right I think. The only thing I would change for your next one is a pic or two. You don’t have to do a play by play with them but one at the start just after deployment maybe. That’s what I think anyway.

Good job on the win. I agree with others on his deployment...what was he doing? You setup first and deployed for a pincer attack and he deployed right into it.

The report format is good. Different than the norm but in a good way.

Good game, I love it when grots kill Space Marines. I actually think their wasn't enough terrain. The board should be 25% covered, and it didn't look like that from your diagram. With true LOS in 5th though, there aren't many ruins that actually block LOS anymore. The only one I have that does is the Shrine of Aquila.

If your opponent hadn't stolen the initiative you would have wiped him out much sooner. Hopefully he'll read this, learn from his mistakes, and give you a more challenging game next time. I liked the format of the reports, so keep them coming.

We were using three bastions which blocked off huges areas of sight. If we'd used ruined buildings instead that may have helped a bit.

He's already formulating how to get back at me

Hopefully the next report won't be too long in coming.

you don't see sicarius a whole lot, i think a whirlwind or something would have been nice to see in his list. it seems like he spent too many points on terminators at such a low point game. good job pettsy! and i can't stop thinking your a girl, your avatar is so distracting! :P
