Default Rot of War: Part II: Scums turned Traitors [IMAGE HEAVY]

Colonel Zenai looks at the scene before him. Imperial citizens slaughtered and looted. Evidence of rape and torture everywhere. He would have the idiot who'd send a penal legion against Chaos forces executed but not before he have his guts ripped out and left out to suffer in pain.

The local militia are now collecting the bodies and burying them. Priests are also present to cleanse their bodies. The Penal Legion had turned to one of the aspect of Chaos, Death and Decay. Nurgle. He shuddered at the thought. Just weeks ago, his 1st Company had suffered heavy losses from a battle from Plague Marines.

He and his regiment are ordered to hunt down the penal legion. A week ago, scouts, and with confirmation from orbital surveys, has found the penal legion going into hiding among the ruin of a nearby town. Zenai watched as his men get on transport to cut off their escape route. He only hoped his men are able to catch them. Only Death and Damnation awaits those traitors.


In this match, I played against one of the IG Masters (or so he calls himself but we would also call him a powergamer too :P) at my store. Basically, I got 2 Infantry Platoon with 3 Infantry Squads each, full squad of ratlings, a Hellhound and a Leman Russ Battle Tank. The weapon setup is supposed to be used against C_V’s Death Guard (MEQ).

On the opposition, a Last Chancers army which I see have 6 Heavy Bolter Teams, 2 Missile Launchers, 2 Lascannons, 2 Techpriests each with 2 Gun Servitors with Heavy Bolters (which is represented by Chaos Marines with Autocannons), 2 Leman Russes and 1 Basilisk and OH! A Ratling Squad too.


Setup











First Turn
Penal Legion
OK, with all his Last Chancers setup (all with Heavy Weapons especially Heavy Bolters), he unleash his heavy bolters and everything else against my Ratlings. After that, only like 5 of them survived.

The Sniper Squad is taking heavy fire as they’ve been spotted by another Sniper Squad. Seeing them as the more dangerous threat, they’ve unleash Hell upon them. The Sniper Squad took heavy losses but their stoicism and courage helped them hold their position.

Chihadists
I fired everything I got against his Ratling Squad. I was only able to kill one.

The Chihadists fired everything they have but the enemy Sniper Squad had the best cover and they was able to shrug off our Heavy Weapons fire.

Second Turn
Penal Legion
This is an escalation game so he rolled for his tanks and failed. Yet again, he unleash his shoot~y~ness against my Ratlings again and he successfully made them run like hell and the rest of his torrent of fire against my squads at the left.

The Penal Legion continued their fire upon the Snipers until one survived. He retreated and was able to bring back his injured comrades. With one threat gone, the traitors direct their fire upon the rest of 1st Company. Again they’ve caused heavy casualties among the Chihadists. Their captured heavy weapons making short work of them.

Chihadists
I was able to bring out my Leman Russ but it can’t shoot yet. And by this time, C_V has arrived to witness our game and now, with his arrival, we wanted to play Dark Heresy instead :P

A Chihadist Leman Russ arrived at the scene, boosting the morale of the men but it has to get into position before it can unleash its battle cannon. The rest of the men kept firing but the traitors, hiding among the ruins again was able to shrug off the Chihadist’s heavy weapons fire.

Third Turn
Penal Legion
His 2 Tanks made it, 2 Leman Russes. He fired his lascannon at my Leman Russ but he justed scored a Crew Shaken result. He was able to fire his battle cannon and he rolled his Scatter Dices in such a way, it overshoot and it hit my 2 Command Squad, one of them, my Officer with the Ld 9 and Vox-Master. 2 of the Command Squad were instantly killed.

The traitor’s heavy armor arrived; they immediately fired their cannons which killed the regiment’s officer instantly. But by this time, they’ve gotten the message that reinforcement has arrived and is surrounding the traitors. It wouldn’t be long before they would fall beneath the Emperor’s Hammer.

Conclusion
I gave up. He killed half of my men and we wanted to play Dark Hersy. Again, I’m using a list made for fighting MEQs and I’m fighting GEQs. My opponent knows my list and with the Last Chancer’s BS 4, he wiped the floor with my men.

I'd love to give you karma for this Zenai, but I won't for two reasons. First of all, it's basically incomplete, and, because of your little episode in the Ork board I don't think you deserve anything at the moment.

Ah well, I deserved it anyway. Are the Mods on standing orders not to give me karma until Tau Online can sue my butt off? :P Anyway, apart from the *ahem*, what you think of this battle. I would really like a view on this.

This has always worked for my guard, take special weapons that deal with MEQ's ie. plasma
Take heavy weapons that deal with GEQ's ie. heavy bolter, autocannnon, and due to 5th ed., missile launcher.
The plasma will do good and the heavy bolters will tear up the GEQ's real good and you could put enough shots on a marine so he will fail his armor save with you heavy bolters and such, rember, it only takes 3 wounding hits until a marine fails his save (I think)

True too but I think I'll stick to a balanced list for now until I assemble my other 4 Heavy Bolters, 2 Autocannons and 3 Lascannons which will add up to 6 of all three > Also, I'll be assembling 2 Sentinels with Heavy Flamer and 6 Sentinels with Multi-laser. Also, 27 Plasma guns / Meltaguns and 9 Flamers. Ya, that should give me plenty of anti-GEQs and enough anti-MEQs to make a Space Marine soiled their Power Armor :P
